Leads technical discovery, solution design, RFP responses, demonstrations, pilots, proof-of-concepts, and data testing for enterprise marketing and media clients. Acts as a trusted advisor on data, privacy, identity, attribution, and activation, translating technical concepts into business decisions. Partners with Sales, Research, and Product teams while influencing platform enhancements and supporting client implementations.
The summary above was generated by AI

The best solutions engineers don't win deals by demoing a product. They win by understanding a client's problem better than the client has articulated it, then designing something credible enough that a senior stakeholder will bet budget on it.

At Resonate, we help enterprise brands understand not just who their customers are, but why they behave the way they do. This role is the technical and data authority in the room when brand, agency, and media clients are deciding whether to trust that data. You'll partner with Sales Executives to run discovery, scope and design the solution, and be the reason a skeptical stakeholder says yes.

It's an individual contributor role with a high degree of autonomy. You'll own the technical direction of your own deals, and you'll be the one carrying what you learn in front of clients back into Research and Product.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading technical discovery with prospects - their business problem, their data environment, and how they'll measure success - before anyone proposes a solution
  • Scoping and designing solutions against client requirements, pulling in internal teams to build what's actually needed to win the deal, and owning the technical response to RFPs and RFIs
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior marketing, insights, and commercial stakeholders, translating technical requirements and trade-offs into business decisions they can make
  • Building and delivering the technical presentations and demonstrations that carry the deal, from remote briefings through in-person working sessions with senior people at leading brands, agencies, and media companies - covering the platform, our data, architecture, methodology, and real case studies
  • Running pilots, proof of concepts, and technical data testing, then leading the data assessment and implementation engagements that follow
  • Carrying Resonate's point of view on the things marketers actually worry about - privacy, identity, attribution - into client conversations, industry events, the trade press, and our internal knowledge library
  • Bringing client needs and platform enhancement requests back to our Research and Product teams, where they carry weight

What we're looking for

You'll need

  • Around 5+ years in technical pre-sales, sales engineering, or solutions architecture, ideally with data, identity, or modeling work in the mix
  • A genuinely consultative approach - you lead discovery, diagnose the underlying problem, and design around it. A feature tour isn't the job
  • Working knowledge of the adtech, martech, and data ecosystems
  • Expert knowledge of the privacy regulations around handling first-party data
  • Deep familiarity with data append deliveries, including file matching and the match rate conversations that come with them
  • Strong fluency with data concepts - data lakes, APIs, MCP (Model Context Protocol), PII handling and identity resolution, and the activation endpoints where client data ends up downstream - plus the ability to get up to speed quickly on a complex, proprietary data asset
  • A track record of building credibility with senior marketing, insights, and commercial stakeholders rather than only technical buyers, which comes down to presenting and writing clearly about technical subject matter
  • Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy in a growth-stage environment

Strong signals

  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, AWS, and Box, and with activation platforms such as The Trade Desk, Adobe, Google, and Meta
  • An understanding of data science techniques and modeling best practices
  • Software experience in marketing analytics, data enhancement, marketing automation, syndicated research, or media technology
  • Knowledge of the martech vendor ecosystem, especially programmatic players like DSPs, DMPs, and data providers
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, business, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience counts just as much.

Who does well here

The people who do well in this role are curious before they're persuasive. You ask one more question when it would be easier to start presenting, and you're comfortable telling a senior stakeholder where the trade-off sits instead of promising everything. You can hold your own in a methodology conversation with a research team, then explain the same thing ten minutes later to a CMO in terms of what it does for their business.

There isn't a playbook for every deal, and you'd rather build the point of view than wait for someone to send you one.

Why Resonate

  • The data is proprietary, so the technical story you tell is actually differentiated - you're not repositioning the same third-party data as everyone else in the market
  • Real influence on the product, because Research and Product want the client feedback you bring back, not just a summary of what closed
  • An individual contributor role where your impact on revenue is visible, without having to manage people to get there
  • Range across brand, agency, and media clients, so the problems stay varied rather than becoming one repeated deal shape
  • A company past the early-stage chaos, with serious enterprise customers and a clear direction
  • Remote-first with genuine flexibility, plus travel for client and industry events
