Position Summary

Internships are Monday through Friday for 40 hours a week. Our Sales Interns are immersed in a vigorous environment with direct access to senior sales representatives and managers in an open working environment that is designed to encourage the free flow of ideas and information. Sales Interns gain familiarity with the physical flow of commodities in both domestic and international markets and an understanding of Smith’s position in a global market. Sales activities are conducted through various cities around the world thus our Sales Interns directly impact both sales and deliveries of commodities to customers around the globe.

Responsibilities  

  • Develop lead generation skills through researching and utilizing tools such as Sales Navigator and ZoomInfo  

  • Learn the full sales cycle through hands on experience prospecting for customers, cold calling or emailing, negotiating prices and following up throughout the process for status updates or changes  

  • Navigate the CRM to input customers and potentially revive dormant accounts  

  • Prepare purchase orders to be sent to suppliers and additional Smith teams – could delete  

  • Collaborate with additional departments such as procurement and operations to negotiate prices, close deals, track shipments, etc  

Qualifications 

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s in business, sales, industrial distribution or a related field 

  • Participation in extracurricular activities to demonstrate time management and multitasking skills  

Dates: Monday, June 1st to Friday, August 7th (10 weeks)

Location: Fully in Office at Arboretum Plaza One, 9442 Capital of Texas Highway North, Suite 900
