Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of cybersecurity experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in cybersecurity consulting, security architecture, or advisory roles
  • Proven experience leading complex cybersecurity consulting engagements
  • Demonstrated experience scoping consulting engagements, including defining delivery approach and level of effort
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in the delivery of security consulting services
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships with technical and executive stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Certifications

Required

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or Network Security Architect 
  • Palo Alto Networks SSE Engineer Specialist
  • Palo Alto Networks SD-WAN Engineer Specialist

Preferred

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE)
  • Cortex XSOAR Engineer (PCSAE)
  • Cortex XSIAM Engineer Specialist

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $153,200 to $191,500 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

Position Overview

The Principal Security Consultant – Palo Alto Networks is a senior technical and strategic role responsible for leading complex cybersecurity consulting engagements for enterprise and government clients. This individual leverages deep expertise across Palo Alto Networks security platforms to design and implement security architectures, guide client security strategy, and deliver measurable security outcomes.

In addition to leading consulting engagements, the Principal Security Consultant contributes to the development of new service offerings, mentors consulting team members, and collaborates with sales teams to scope and deliver high-impact cybersecurity solutions. This role requires a combination of technical depth, consulting experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and executive leadership.


The ideal candidate is an experienced cybersecurity professional with strong consulting expertise, deep knowledge of Palo Alto Networks technologies, and a proven ability to translate complex security challenges into practical solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Engagement Leadership

  • Lead the successful delivery of complex cybersecurity consulting engagements leveraging Palo Alto Networks technologies.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise and government clients.
  • Design and implement security architectures aligned with industry best practices and customer requirements.
  • Lead customer workshops, assessments, and architecture discussions.
  • Ensure engagement deliverables meet quality standards and align with client expectations and objectives.

Practice Development

  • Contribute to the development and expansion of Palo Alto-aligned consulting service offerings.
  • Define delivery methodologies, consulting frameworks, and reusable assets for consulting engagements.
  • Identify emerging security technologies and industry trends to inform new service offerings.
  • Support the development of statements of work (SOW), delivery models, and consulting methodologies.

Sales and Pre-Sales Support

  • Partner with sales teams to scope consulting engagements, including delivery approach, level of effort, staffing requirements, and pricing considerations.
  • Participate in customer briefings, technical discussions, and executive-level engagements.
  • Support proposal development and consulting solution positioning.

Thought Leadership and Enablement

  • Develop technical content including white papers, blog articles, presentations, and other thought leadership materials.
  • Contribute to internal enablement through training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent the organization in customer engagements, workshops, and industry discussions.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Mentor and guide consulting team members on cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and consulting best practices.
  • Provide oversight and review of engagement deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Support professional development of consulting team members.

Technical Expertise

The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in one or more cybersecurity domains, with working knowledge across several others:

  • Security architecture and enterprise security design
