Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support business operations and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

• Support audits (financial, internal, regulatory) and respond to auditor inquiries

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements

• Review and maintain general ledger accuracy

• Assist with technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, equity, and accruals

• Partner with FP&A, operations, and other departments to improve financial processes

• Identify and implement process improvements and accounting system enhancements

• Mentor junior accounting staff as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting

• Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)

• Advanced Excel skills

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Competencies

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA-eligible

• Public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm)

• Experience in Insurance, MGA, start up environment

• Experience with SOX, internal controls, or regulatory reporting

• Familiarity with equity compensation, revenue recognition (ASC 606)

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
