Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Associate, Portfolio Management provides direct support to Portfolio Managers and collaborates with broader Portfolio Management teams in the execution of separate account investment strategies. This role is responsible for portfolio analysis, client reporting, strategic planning, and performance monitoring across institutional real estate portfolios. The position works closely with Investment Management and other internal partners to help deliver strong investment outcomes and exceptional client service.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Support the development and execution of multiple separate account investment strategies and portfolio business plans.

  • Monitor portfolio and property-level performance, providing analysis and recommendations related to acquisitions, leasing, valuations, capital expenditures, financing, and dispositions.

  • Coordinate and facilitate client reporting processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.

  • Assist with capital calls, client requests, strategic investment planning, and portfolio forecasting activities.

  • Prepare board materials, annual reports, and presentations that effectively communicate portfolio performance and investment activity.

  • Create and maintain portfolio-level reporting and analytics to measure performance, diversification, risk, and compliance with investment objectives.

  • Review financial structures and partnership waterfalls to ensure compliance with governing documents and investment guidelines.

  • Provide ad hoc support for clients, Portfolio Management teams, and organizational initiatives as needed.

Requirements for the Role

  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA, CFA, or other advanced investment-related designation is a plus.

  • 5-7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Portfolio/Fund Management, Asset Management, Real Estate Investments, Acquisition Analytics, Underwriting, Financing, Accounting, or Real Estate Appraisal.

  • Strong understanding of institutional real estate investments and portfolio management principles.

  • Advanced financial analysis skills, including forecasting, valuation concepts, and financial statement analysis.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with Argus required, and familiarity with Yardi is an asset.

  • Experience leveraging AI and productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and software platforms.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and collaborative, with the confidence to provide thoughtful recommendations and challenge perspectives when appropriate.

The salary range for this position in Los Angeles/California is $120,000 - $161,000/year
