About this roleAs a Senior Backend Engineer on our Data Team you will design and build the data and backend integration systems that allow Archive to connect deeply into brand ecosystems (e-commerce, ERP, finance, logistics) and deliver reliable, high-quality data flows across our platform. You’ll work across backend engineering, data engineering, and customer integrations to ship solutions that directly impact the success of brand programs and the growth of the recommerce economy.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous data challenges, collaborating with both technical and non-technical partners, and owning systems end-to-end in a fast-moving environment.
ResponsibilitiesArchitect and build backend services that power Archive’s platform, including APIs, data pipelines, and integration systems
Design and maintain scalable data models that support both operational features and analytical reporting
Implement integrations with ERPs, e-commerce platforms, inventory management services, and financial systems
Work closely with implementation teams and external stakeholders to understand system requirements and convert them into robust, maintainable solutions
Develop monitoring, observability, and data validation workflows to ensure consistent data quality across a multi-tenant environment
5+ years of experience as a backend or platform engineer
Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript
Deep understanding of relational databases and proficiency with SQL (PostgreSQL preferred)
Experience building and deploying backend services at scale, ideally within distributed systems
Comfortable working with a variety of data stores (relational, NoSQL, warehouse environments)
Experience with or interest in data orchestration tools
Skilled at breaking down ambiguous, messy, or unstructured data challenges into pragmatic, reliable solutions
Able to turn high-level goals into shippable code and iterate quickly in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and excited about collaborating with cross-functional partners and, at times, customers
Experience with e-commerce, ERP, logistics, or marketplace integrations
Experience supporting customer-facing technical implementations

Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible for equity as well, and all employees are eligible for a full benefits package including employee and dependent healthcare and 401(k) enrollment. Our team of over 50 employees is currently remote-first, with an office in NYC and optional in-person work for those located in the area. We have company offsites twice a year to bring the full team together in person, and occasional travel is expected as part of the job.
