Vantage is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Billing & Telemetry Engineer to support systems development for customer billing and usage tracking across Vantage facilities. You will review power distribution diagrams, metering specifications, and network architecture documents to implement telemetry collection systems and billing calculation engines for both new and existing facilities on a variety of platforms. You will also be called on to troubleshoot existing billing and telemetry systems in a live, mission-critical environment, and assist with validation, testing, and commissioning procedures on new and existing data center metering infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with peers to implement lessons learned and contribute to improvements in billing standards and telemetry frameworks.

  • Implement and maintain telemetry collection and billing calculation applications for customer usage tracking projects, with moderate supervision.

  • Execute billing system modifications and telemetry updates in an online, critical environment under guidance of senior team members.

  • Support and train regional Billing & Telemetry personnel on established standards and system procedures.

  • Assist in data center planning and development activities, including vendor coordination, testing of metering hardware and software systems, alerting configuration, and data validation.

  • Configure and maintain telemetry systems from leading metering equipment vendors and software platforms.

  • Implement billing configurations for customer projects and standard telemetry solutions following established patterns.

  • Support multi-functional partners in maintaining automated customer billing, usage reporting, and threshold notifications.

  • Assist in optimizing telemetry data collection and billing algorithms to increase accuracy and reduce billing disputes.

  • Additional duties as assigned by Management

Duties

  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Finance, and Construction teams during billing system development, as well as members of the Information Technology and Site Operations teams for maintaining existing telemetry and billing architecture.

  • Assist the development team in merger and acquisition activities through billing system documentation, integration support, and new team member mentoring.

  • Execute standardized quality assurance processes to support the validation and testing of billing and telemetry systems.

  • Review project documents, including Power Distribution drawings, Metering Specifications, Network Architecture Diagrams, and project schedules when implementing telemetry collection logic and billing calculation engines.

  • Maintain and update Billing System Architecture Documents including Data Flow Diagrams, API Specifications, and Database Schemas for data center deployments.

  • Collaborate with other billing integration team members and provide technical guidance to junior staff

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in Billing Systems, Telemetry, or Data Analytics required; 5 to 7 years preferred

  • Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required

  • Understanding of billing systems (usage calculation, rate structures, invoice generation, etc.) in a production environment

  • Knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) software platform is required

  • Strong knowledge of programming including SQL, Python, and modern billing platforms is required

  • Strong knowledge of MQTT is preferred

  • Travel is expected to be 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves

Additional Details 

  • Salary Range: $145k – $155k + Bonus (this range is based on national market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
