The Role

As a Senior Catastrophe Modelling Analyst, you will play an important role in helping Accelerant understand, manage and optimise catastrophe risk across our growing global portfolio. Working across a wide range of risks, natural catastrophe perils and territories – including the US, UK, Canada and Europe – you will deliver high-quality catastrophe modelling and exposure analytics to support portfolio management, underwriting, reinsurance and strategic decision-making.

 

This is a highly collaborative role with exposure well beyond the Modelling function. You will work closely with Exposure Data, Underwriting and Ceded Reinsurance teams, as well as with the
Risk Exchange, brokers, rating agencies and other external stakeholders, while helping shape and continuously improve Accelerant's catastrophe modelling and exposure management capabilities.



Responsibilities

· Deliver and interpret catastrophe modelling results and portfolio analytics across a broad range of risks, territories and perils.

· Support exposure management, accumulation monitoring and PML optimisation, providing insight into key concentrations and emerging areas of risk.

· Partner with Exposure Data and Underwriting to improve exposure data quality, validation and harmonisation across the Group.

· Work closely with Ceded Reinsurance to provide catastrophe analytics to inform the Group's catastrophe treaty strategy and purchasing decisions.

· Support Risk Capital partners, insurers and reinsurers with high-quality modelling, portfolio analysis and external reporting, while collaborating with brokers and other stakeholders.

· Contribute to the automation and continued development of the Group's catastrophe modelling capabilities, improving efficiency, scalability and the depth of analytical insight to the business.



Skills & Qualifications

· 5 to 10 years of experience in catastrophe modelling and exposure management.

· Strong hands-on experience with the Verisk catastrophe models (AIR Touchstone) with a good understanding of model inputs, outputs, assumptions and limitations.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex model results and turn them into clear, actionable insights.

· Strong technical capabilities, including SQL, R/Python and GIS.

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Strong interest in identifying and implementing practical applications of AI across catastrophe modelling and risk analytics workflows.

 


Preferred Experience

· Experience in the Lloyd's / London Market or international specialty insurance environment.

· Experience in exposure management, accumulation monitoring and portfolio optimisation.

· Experience supporting catastrophe reinsurance analysis or treaty purchasing.

· Experience working with brokers, reinsurers, capital providers and model vendors.

· Experience improving or automating catastrophe modelling, exposure or reporting processes.
