Own and evolve Qrypt's AWS infrastructure as code, build cloud services (primarily in Rust) to deliver quantum entropy and keys, deploy into customer environments, implement monitoring/observability, improve reliability/security/cost, partner on roadmap, and support on-call/operational readiness.
The summary above was generated by AI

Qrypt's mission is to protect the world's data and restore privacy. Qrypt hardens cybersecurity and future-proofs encryption against quantum attacks by eliminating key transmission. Qrypt's unique technology independently generates symmetric keys at multiple endpoints for critical workflows today. We are a passionate team of engineers, physicists, and cryptographers committed to transforming the way the world safeguards data and communications!

Qrypt is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to own the infrastructure and services behind our cloud and entropy-as-a-service offering. You will build and run our AWS environment with Terraform, develop the cloud services that deliver quantum entropy and keys, and lead the work of extending our cloud interface into customers' own environments. This is a hands-on senior role spanning infrastructure and application: you own how the cloud is built, how it's deployed, and how we know it's healthy.

What you'll do

    • Own and evolve Qrypt's AWS infrastructure as code with Terraform: environments, networking, security, and deployment pipelines.

    • Design and build cloud services (in Rust, with some C++ and Python) that deliver quantum entropy and keys reliably and securely.

    • Lead the effort to deploy Qrypt's cloud interface into customer environments, not just Qrypt-hosted, including portable, repeatable deployment patterns.

    • Stand up monitoring, alerting, and observability so we catch issues before customers do.

    • Improve reliability, security, and cost of the cloud platform as it scales.

    • Partner with engineering and product to sequence the cloud roadmap and turn shortcomings into planned work.

    • Contribute to on-call and operational readiness for the services you build.

What you'll need

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or relevant work experience.

    • 6+ years in cloud/platform engineering, including end-to-end ownership of a production cloud environment.

    • Strong hands-on AWS experience and expertise with Terraform (infrastructure as code).

    • Ability to build backend/cloud services, not just manage infrastructure; comfortable in Rust or a strong systems language (C++, Go, Python) with willingness to work in Rust.

    • Experience with monitoring/alerting and observability tooling, and with running reliable production services.

    • Experience deploying software into varied or customer-controlled environments (containers/Kubernetes, portable IaC).

    • Fluency with AI and agent-assisted development workflows, and the judgment to own the correctness of anything these tools help you produce. This is core to how we operate at Qrypt and is expected of everyone here.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Qrypt does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

    • Experience with cryptography, security, key management, or networking systems.

    • Experience with security/compliance in the cloud (e.g., SOC 2, FIPS 140-3, high-assurance environments).

Benefits & Perks

    • Competitive Pay & Equity participation

    • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage

    • 401(k) match

    • In-office lunch and snacks

    • The opportunity to be part of a company solving one of the most critical technology challenges of our time!

What you need to know about the Austin Tech Scene

Austin has a diverse and thriving tech ecosystem thanks to home-grown companies like Dell and major campuses for IBM, AMD and Apple. The state’s flagship university, the University of Texas at Austin, is known for its engineering school, and the city is known for its annual South by Southwest tech and media conference. Austin’s tech scene spans many verticals, but it’s particularly known for hardware, including semiconductors, as well as AI, biotechnology and cloud computing. And its food and music scene, low taxes and favorable climate has made the city a destination for tech workers from across the country.

Key Facts About Austin Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 180,500; 13.7% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Dell, IBM, AMD, Apple, Alphabet
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, hardware, cloud computing, software, healthtech
  • Funding Landscape: $4.5 billion in VC funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Live Oak Ventures, Austin Ventures, Hinge Capital, Gigafund, KdT Ventures, Next Coast Ventures, Silverton Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Texas, Southwestern University, Texas State University, Center for Complex Quantum Systems, Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, Texas Advanced Computing Center
