As a Legal Counsel in the Control Functions Legal (CFL) team, you will monitor, analyze, and report on legal and regulatory developments affecting Consumer & Community Banking (CCB). You’ll partner with stakeholders across CCB to manage change, support compliance, and enhance legal processes. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, develop AI-driven legal solutions, and contribute to the success of a leading financial institution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting CCB
  • Draft clear, concise summaries of developments and their impacts
  • Partner with Legal and control functions on regulatory and change management matters
  • Design, implement, and enhance legal and regulatory change management processes
  • Assess and leverage emerging technology for process improvement
  • Develop and refine AI prompts and inputs to support legal research and workflows
  • Respond to regulator, audit, and compliance inquiries
  • Support special research projects as needed
  • Collaborate effectively within the team and across departments
  • Take ownership of responsibilities and proactively solve problems
  • Multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced, complex environment

Required qualifications, skills and capabilities 

  • J.D. or educational equivalent required.
  • Admission to practice law and compliance with all relevant licensing requirements, including the specific requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. 
  • Three or more years of experience in legal practice in consumer banking, financial services regulation, and/or financial services litigation. 
  • Excellent legal analysis and research skills, including issue-spotting. 
  • Knowledge of US state legislative and regulatory processes. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to draft and refine existing AI prompts and assistants.
  • Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, to take ownership of responsibilities, to collaborate well, and proactively solve problems. 
  • Multitask and prioritize work intelligently in a fast-paced and complex business environment. 
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment. 

Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities 

  • Regulatory, government, or compliance experience 
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning Large Language Models and Agentic AI  
  • Business Intelligence Solutions Applications 
  • Technological mindset/background
