NXP is offering an exceptional opportunity for a talented and curious business attorney to engage with some of the most dynamic legal challenges in an international high-tech environment. As a Senior Commercial Attorney on the Commercial Legal Support team, you will play a critical role in supporting NXP’s global business operations, primarily advising on customer-facing matters, including sales agreements and software licensing. You will be responsible for independently negotiating complex commercial transactions, advising internal clients, and delivering practical, business-oriented legal solutions.

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where senior attorneys are trusted to independently drive complex negotiations, exercise judgment, and shape commercial outcomes.  The environment is collaborative, and intellectually stimulating, ideal for a confident and self-motivated legal professional who enjoys working across geographies and cultures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead contract negotiations and draft a variety of commercial agreements with customers and suppliers.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal issues related to software licensing, product sales, legal claims and purchasing.
  • Shape and advise on software licensing strategies, including novel licensing models and evolving customer use cases.
  • Advise senior business, sales, and technical leaders on high-value, time-sensitive commercial transactions.
  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Legal Department and across global business units.
  • Hybrid work model: minimum 3 days per week in the Austin, Texas office; up to 2 days remote.
  • Occasional travel required.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited university; admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a law firm or an in-house legal department of a multinational corporation.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements, including product sales and purchasing contracts.
  • Strong background in software licensing transactions and legal issues.
  • Proven ability to lead contract negotiations involving parties across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with regulatory matters relating to the semiconductor industry is a plus.
