Amex GBT is a place where colleagues find inspiration in travel as a force for good and – through their work – can make an impact on our industry. We’re here to help our colleagues achieve success and offer an inclusive and collaborative culture where your voice is valued.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead complex IAM initiatives across the enterprise. In this role, you will serve as the primary delivery owner for identity and access management projects, translating business requirements into technical roadmaps, coordinating across infrastructure, security, and application teams, and ensuring projects deliver value on time and within scope. You will combine strong project management discipline with hands-on technical understanding of IAM platforms, controls, and architectures.

This position sits at the intersection of business delivery, technical architecture, and operational governance. You will manage initiatives ranging from platform migrations and policy implementations to new capability deployments and organizational transformations in IAM.

What You'll Do

Project Planning and Scope Management

  • Define project charters and scope for IAM initiatives, breaking implementations into manageable workstreams and phases
  • Develop schedules, resource plans, and cost estimates with technical leads
  • Establish success criteria and KPIs aligned with business objectives

Stakeholder Coordination and Communication

  • Lead governance boards and steering committee reviews
  • Communicate status, risks, and decisions to technical and business audiences
  • Coordinate across infrastructure, security, applications, and business teams, managing dependencies and escalations proactively

Technical Delivery Oversight

  • Provide technical project leadership on platform implementations (Okta, CyberArk, Saviynt, etc.)
  • Track and manage technical workstreams from design through deployment
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure solutions meet requirements, standards, and compliance

Risk and Change Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
  • Develop and execute change management plans for organizational transitions
  • Plan and manage cutover activities, rollbacks, and contingencies, supporting post-implementation review

Operations Enablement and Training

  • Coordinate training and documentation for operations and support teams
  • Develop operational runbooks and procedures for new capabilities
  • Support knowledge transfer and team readiness

Metrics and Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report project metrics (schedule variance, budget variance, scope adherence)
  • Monitor value realization against post-implementation targets
  • Identify and implement process improvements in IAM delivery

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of IAM platforms/architectures (Okta, Active Directory, PAM, IGA) and identity governance/compliance controls
  • Advanced project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk) with Agile/Waterfall/hybrid experience
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to translate technical architecture into business context
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related field
  • 10+ years in project/program management; 5+ years managing IAM, security, or enterprise IT projects
  • 3+ years hands-on with enterprise IAM platforms (Okta, Saviynt, or equivalent); proven success leading complex multi-team initiatives and platform migrations

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SAFe/agile facilitation
  • Knowledge of IAM governance standards (NIST, CIS, SOC 2) and zero-trust frameworks
