Senior Data Engineer

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team! This role can be remote only within our operational footprint. This position will collaborate with teams of IT/BI and non-IT personnel to help create, manage, maintain and develop the enterprise data framework and pipelines. Provide hands-on leadership and feedback on projects and productions systems. Provide guidance and leadership to the Data Engineering team.

As part of this role you will:

• Provide training, guidance, and thought leadership to the Data Engineering team.
• Take a leadership role in large-scale corporate projects such as integrations and major customer impacting system upgrades.
• Expanding and optimizing our data pipeline framework across multiple applications and systems.
• Collaborate with the BI team and business analysts to review requirements and translate to ETL design and implementation.
• Understand ETL technical approaches and designs.
• Provide support for existing data pipeline frameworks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing data structures, ETL processes and logic.
• Take a leadership role in setting organizational data management and architecture strategy.
• Take a leadership role in cross-departmental projects.
• Determine, develop, document and maintain standards and procedures.
• Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in data design, analysis and strategy.
• Take a leadership role in the selection, design and implementation of new analytical systems.
• Manage projects and workload according to FMB standard technology.

To be successful in this position, we require the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• A minimum of five (5) years data management experience plus a minimum of three (3) years of Data Warehouse development and design experience.

The following would be a plus:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business intelligence, data management or related field of study.
• Seven (7) or more years data management experience plus over five (5) years of Data Warehouse development and design experience.
• Data Warehouse/Management Certifications.
