About Prelim

Prelim builds digital account-opening infrastructure for community banks and credit unions. We've sustained over 100% ARR growth for four consecutive years on seed funding, and our platform sits in the critical path of how banks onboard their customers. When our system is down, a bank can't open accounts for its customers.

We're a small team. You'd be our first dedicated DevOps hire, which means you'll own infrastructure end to end.

What you'll own
  • Own the build, test, and deploy pipeline. Our engineers ship fast; your job is to make shipping fast and safe: progressive rollouts, fast rollbacks, deploy confidence.

  • Make and enforce our infrastructure as fully reproducible environments via code.

  • Define and hit uptime targets our bank customers contractually depend on. Build out monitoring, alerting, and incident response so we find problems before our customers do. Mature our on-call practice from heroics into a system.

  • We sell to regulated financial institutions. Change management, access controls, and audit logging need to produce evidence, not just exist. You'll partner closely with our security function on our ongoing SOC 2 and bank due-diligence requirements.

  • Own the cloud bill. Growth shouldn't mean linear infrastructure spend.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years in DevOps / SRE / platform engineering roles; experience as an early or solo infra hire strongly preferred

  • Deep fluency with a major cloud provider (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code in production

  • You've built CI/CD pipelines other engineers loved, not just tolerated

  • Strong opinions on observability. You've instrumented systems, defined SLOs, and run incident processes

  • Comfortable operating in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment, or eager to learn what that demands (SOC 2, ISO 27001)

  • You default to automation and mechanisms over manual process, and you document what you build

  • Pragmatic: you can tell the difference between what a 50-person company needs now and what a 400-person company needs later

Nice to have
  • Fintech, banking, or other regulated-industry experience

  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture

  • Database operations experience (backups, migrations, performance)

  • Security-adjacent skills: secrets management, network segmentation, least-privilege IAM
