The Role
SoFi’s Marketing Team is seeking a Senior Director of Affiliate Marketing to provide strategy, vision, and direction for our Affiliate Partnerships business. This role is a critical leadership position directly responsible for our Lending and Banking verticals, setting the strategy and directly managing a structured team of seasoned Affiliate professionals responsible for Personal Loans, Student Loans, Home Loans, Credit Card, Deposits, Brokerage, and Crypto. It reports directly into our VP of Affiliate & Referral Marketing.
Besides owning the external relationships & engagement with top affiliate partners, this role will partner closely with internal x-functional leadership across Product Marketing, the Business Units, Business Corporate Development, Finance, Risk, Data Science, and Engineering to identify opportunities and achieve our strategic objectives.
There is a large business development component to this role, including helping to onboard and optimize partners and investors to our Loan Platform Business in Affiliates, and ensuring SoFi is top of mind with partners in exploring new B2B opportunities in areas such as Big Business Banking, SMB Lending, SoFi Stablecoin & Crypto adoption and Secured Lending.
Importantly, this role will be accountable to driving the Strategy & Foundational Capabilities for the Affiliate Channel as a whole. This most directly involves identifying and setting stretch goals, establishing our tech capabilities & innovation roadmap, prioritizing our test & learn strategy, and diving deep into funnel optimization.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Leadership: Develop strategy and direction for Lending and Banking areas of our business, driving the overall performance of the Department.
- Portfolio Planning, Initiatives, and Testing: Fully responsible for finalizing business forecasts, test & learn strategies, and identifying new opportunities to meet our goals.
- Business Development: Lead strategic conversations and complex negotiations with senior leadership at external partners focusing on high-impact decisions critical to long-term vision.
- Talent Development: Nurture, develop, and attract talent, including coaching a team of seasoned practitioners.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Drive complex initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups (Product Marketing, Business Unit, Risk, Pricing, Finance, Engineering) to drive business results and forge alignment on business outcomes.
- Innovation: Anticipate factors that could impact outcomes of established strategies and solve abstract challenges across the Business/Function.
What You’ll Need
- Total Experience: 15+ years of related experience (or 12+ years with a Master’s degree).
- Industry Expertise: 10+ years of performance marketing, with a minimum of 5+ years in affiliate and a focus on Financial Services and Lending and/or Banking products
- Management Expertise: Proven track record of managing high performing teams including senior managers and other people managers.
- Technical Literacy: Expert understanding of affiliate marketing platforms (Impact, Tableau, Snowflake), affiliate capabilities (Hosted Models, APIs, Lead Gen platforms) and how they fit within the competitive environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations as they pertain to lending, banking, and affiliate marketing.
