Senior Director of Commercial Sales

Blackbaud is seeking a charismatic, growth‑oriented leader to lead our Commercial (SMB) Nonprofit Sales team. This role is accountable for overall sales performance while partnering closely with customers to understand their needs, drive meaningful social impact, and ensure long‑term success.

The leader will work cross‑functionally with Sales, Product Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Professional Services to support selling effectiveness, product evolution, and exceptional customer experiences. You will be challenged to think strategically - retaining and expanding existing customers while winning new business and deepening relationships across the nonprofit sector.

This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of North America Sales and serves as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to the overall direction and execution of the business.

A core expectation of this role is to scale the sales organization through an effective go‑to‑market model, disciplined hiring, and productivity improvement. This includes building, coaching, and accelerating the development of entry‑level sales professionals to create a strong, sustainable talent pipeline.

What you’ll do:

  • Own Commercial Nonprofit Sales revenue performance, including new business growth, and customer retention.

  • Define and execute the Nonprofit sales strategy by evaluating existing business, identifying new opportunities, and driving disciplined action plans.

  • Set clear expectations and ensure accountability through accurate forecasting, pipeline management, account planning, and sales performance reporting.

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 30+ sales professionals and leaders, supporting execution across all stages of the sales cycle.

  • Serve as an executive‑level customer sponsor, clearly articulating the value proposition with credibility, presence, and deep understanding of customer needs, products, and competition.

  • Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Alliances, and Product leaders on annual planning and go‑to‑market execution.

  • Manage staff of 30+ sales professionals, encompassing sales account executives and sales leaders.

What you’ll bring:

  • 10+ years of software sales experience, including 5+ years leading and managing high‑performing sales teams; SaaS experience preferred.

  • Proven experience scaling high‑velocity, SMB‑focused sales organizations with a strong emphasis on hands‑on coaching, skill development, and active pipeline management.

  • Demonstrated success selling software solutions in the nonprofit sector, with a strategic approach to demand generation and revenue growth.

  • Experience navigating high volume complex sales cycles with SMB customers.

  • Strong analytical capability, including use of ROI analysis, cost modeling, and quantitative techniques to educate and influence buyers.

  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time‑management skills, with experience using Salesforce and Gong.

  • Prior experience working with nonprofits, foundations, or corporate social responsibility programs is highly preferred.
