Department Overview
Community is a cloud-based service that allows citizens to send video, photographs and recordings to the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) in a controlled, permission-based procedure.
Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional software development expertise in designing the architecture of scalable, maintainable and reliable software systems using different design patterns, especially microservices architectural patterns.

  • Strong full-stack knowledge specially on web application development using Angular and building RESTful APIs and Microservices using Java.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably Cosmos DB. SQL DB knowledge is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud infrastructure, kubernetes and CI/CD.

  • Hands-on expert software developer with deep understanding of development ecosystems, technical leader or key technical contributor, having significant impact on the organization

  • Ability to negotiate with the product and business teams to reach a common understanding about feature scope, complexity and product evolution

  • Educates and coaches other individuals in software craftsmanship principles. Consistently refactors existing code and sets high security and quality standards for the team.

  • Data-driven and with strong focus on process and efficiency improvements, quality and SRE KPIs.

  • Very strong leadership skills from the technical or managerial point of view. Focused not only on daily activities, but looking beyond helping to organize work and planning for the team. Engages themself in complex tasks and defining, maintaining architecture for the team. Works without supervision from other members of the team. Impact on the team is strong and visible, as well impact on the product and department. Their activity should mostly impact project and department level.


Basic Requirements

What You'll Bring (Skills & Experience):

  • 10 + years experience in building products and driving their architecture

  • Practical knowledge on microservices or other distributed system and REST API

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math or related fields

  • English language skills that allow for efficient communication with our peers and customers in North America.

  • Strong leadership skills and able to mentor and drive an multi-national team of engineers
