About this Position
The Senior Manager Agency Operations provides leadership to agency operations and the safety group programs to support distribution, business development, and underwriting strategic goals. This includes coordination with business leaders on developing agency operations strategies, oversight of agency commissions and incentive programs, agency management data, agent recruiting, contracting, and performance management. You will be responsible for relationships with agency partners and important strategic insurance industry partners and trade associations.

Responsibilities & QualificationsIn this role you will:Provide Agency Operations and Business Development:
  • Develop agency operational strategies informed by marketplace analysis, agent feedback, and industry data.

  • Develop relationships with agents and top-tier agencies through direct engagement, events, and professional organizations.

  • Be a primary contact for resolving agent-company concerns and identifying systemic issues.

  • Design scalable sales management frameworks and lead business development strategy across regional teams.

  • Influence, coach, and provide developmental support to Territory Managers.

  • Collaborate to develop and deliver sales training programs aligned with our goals.

Provide Compensation and Program Oversight:

  • Recommend and manage agency incentive programs and commission structures to guide performance outcomes.

  • Approve agent commission levels and ensure accurate payment processing.

  • Oversee the Safety Group Program, including goal-setting, compliance coordination with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Legal, and contract and dividend administration.

  • Monitor Safety Group performance through KPI analysis, including retention ratios, hit ratios, and outlier reporting.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.

  • At least seven years of progressive experience in insurance operations, distribution management, or sales strategy development, with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility or equivalent education, training, or experience.

  • Experience in agency management, sales performance management, or business development.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a matrix or dotted-line environment, building credibility across functions or with external partners without direct authority.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data, identify trends, and translate insights into applicable management decisions.

  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel; comfortable working with CRM platforms and performance reporting tools (e.g., Tableau or equivalent).

  • Proven ability to communicate professionally and effectively — in writing and verbally — across all organizational levels, including senior and executive leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • At least three years of direct people management experience, with a track record of developing talent, managing performance, and building high-functioning teams.

  • Insurance industry experience, with working knowledge of workers' compensation, agency distribution models, or commercial lines operations.

  • Experience managing agency compensation programs, tiering/scoring frameworks, or producer incentive structures.

  • Familiarity with sales process improvement methodologies and the ability to design and implement scalable operational workflows.

  • Experience with affinity group programs.

  • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, field operations, or distribution leadership.

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role. Your recruiter can discuss the full value of our total compensation package with you, including our generous bonus plans and flex-hybrid work model.

Base Pay Range: $136,408.00 - $168,504.00 Per Year
