Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering About the Role

The Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering leads the delivery of infrastructure solutions that enable critical business outcomes. This role provides technical and organizational leadership across a hybrid environment spanning Microsoft Azure, on-premises infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, databases, and shared platform services.

The ideal candidate is a technically credible leader who can translate business objectives into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions. They are equally comfortable discussing architecture with engineers, priorities with business leaders, and trade-offs with executives. This is not a traditional project or program management role. Success in this position requires strong technical leadership, the ability to build and scale high-performing teams, and a track record of creating repeatable processes that drive predictable delivery and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of infrastructure solutions that support business and technology objectives.
  • Partner with business, architecture, engineering, and security teams to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions.
  • Review and challenge infrastructure designs to ensure resiliency, scalability, security, operational readiness, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Balance demand, capacity, risks, and competing priorities across multiple initiatives to ensure focus on the highest-value work.
  • Identify technical, operational, and delivery risks early and drive resolution through effective decision-making and stakeholder alignment.
  • Build and scale high-performing infrastructure teams through coaching, talent development, succession planning, and organizational leadership.
  • Establish repeatable delivery, operational, and governance processes that improve quality, predictability, and efficiency at scale.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  • Communicate technical concepts, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Drive standardization, automation, and process improvement to improve service reliability and reduce operational risk.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience leading infrastructure engineering, platform services, architecture, or technology delivery organizations.
  • Strong experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure and on-premises technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Azure services including networking, identity, compute, storage, security, monitoring, and governance.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts including routing, switching, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, WAN connectivity, and network security principles.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure architecture, compute, storage, databases, security, and operational support models.
  • Proven ability to connect technology investments and delivery priorities to measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through complex technical initiatives and organizational change.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling technical teams, developing leaders, and fostering a strong engineering culture.
  • Experience establishing repeatable processes, governance models, and operational disciplines that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and traditional delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certifications.
  • Experience leading cloud modernization, infrastructure transformation, platform engineering, or large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Experience managing teams responsible for enterprise infrastructure or shared technology services.
  • Familiarity with automation, observability, enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational resilience practices.
