Senior Mechanical Engineer-IT Rack Infrastructure

Mechanical Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What You’ll Achieve

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll collaborate with our global community of mechanical, electrical, and thermal engineering experts to create cutting-edge, rack‑level data center solutions that power the next generation of AI.

You will:

  • Partner closely with cross‑functional engineering teams to develop innovative, customer‑centric solutions
  • Use 3D CAD tools to design sheet metal, plastic, die‑cast, and other complex components and assemblies
  • Develop, prototype, and evaluate new mechanical concepts for feasibility and performance
  • Work directly with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and tooling teams to bring designs from concept to production

Essential Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in electro‑mechanical product development or equivalent skill
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks for designing sheet metal, plastics, and die‑cast components
  • Knowledge of cooling technologies, with emphasis on liquid cooling and rack‑level thermal components
  • Ability to interpret technical data sheets
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
Desirable Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience designing high‑density IT rack solutions for data centers

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $116,450-$150,700
