About the company

Our client is an electronics manufacturing company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the mechanical engineering of purpose-built factory machinery, from early concept to working installation. The position combines precision design, automation and system integration, with a mix of computer-based design and hands-on lab work.

What you'll do

- Take bespoke manufacturing machines, automated cells, tooling and electromechanical subsystems from initial concept through to installation.

- Retrofit and automate inspection instruments and fine-tolerance process stations.

- Integrate high-precision motion hardware, drives and control electronics into multi-axis mechanisms.

- Work alongside software colleagues, machinists, vendors and engineers from other disciplines to bring new tools into service.

- Spend a majority of the week on design and the remainder on assembly, validation and debugging in the lab.

Requirements

What we're looking for

- A mechanical engineering degree at Bachelor's level, with a solid track record of professional experience in the field; a Master's degree can shorten the experience needed.

- Firsthand experience designing original machinery rather than adapting existing commercial products.

- Proven ownership of designs through fabrication, assembly and testing.

- Full-system mechanical design skills, including automation, precision mechanisms and integration.

- Advanced 3D CAD proficiency, ideally in Creo, though SolidWorks or NX experience is also welcome.

- Practical grasp of dimensioning and tolerancing methods, including how tolerance choices affect performance and how to call them out on drawings.

- Experience applying manufacturability and ease-of-assembly principles to machined and fabricated parts.

- Comfort taking responsibility for an entire system rather than isolated components.

- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Bonus points

- Experience in capital equipment for chip fabrication, factory automation or metrology.

- Familiarity with precision motion, optics, robotics or very fine-scale measurement.
