Role: Cloud Application Architect

Experience Level: 8+ years

Location: Remote (USA)

Description:

  • We are looking for an experienced Application Migration and Modernization Architect to lead the migration and transformation of enterprise applications to AWS. This role focuses on application-level modernization across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with cloud-native development practices.
  • The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can define application architecture, guide development teams, and actively contribute to implementation across rehost, replatform, and refactor initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Lead application migration and modernization initiatives for enterprise workloads transitioning to AWS.
  • Define and execute strategies across rehost, replatform, and refactor approaches based on application architecture and business needs.
  • Conduct application discovery, codebase assessment, and dependency mapping to inform migration and modernization decisions.
  • Design and implement cloud-native application architectures using microservices and serverless patterns.
  • Refactor monolithic applications into modular, scalable components where required.
  • Drive modernization of application code, frameworks, and runtime environments (.NET/Java/Python).
  • Integrate and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support modern application development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless application transformation and delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship while remaining hands-on with design and development.

Basic Qualifications (BQ): 

  • Proven experience in full-stack application development using modern frontend and backend technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in backend languages such as Java, C#, Node.js, and Python.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar.
  • Experience building enterprise-grade web applications and RESTful APIs using microservices architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, and frontend frameworks (Bootstrap, Material UI, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and modern software design principles.
  • Experience with API design, integration, and application security (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience designing and deploying applications on AWS (preferred) or other cloud platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with application migration and modernization to cloud (rehost, replatform, refactor).
  • Strong understanding of microservices, API-first, and distributed system architectures.
  • Ability to lead architecture design while remaining hands-on with development.
  • Experience conducting code reviews, enforcing coding standards, and ensuring security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve complex production issues and optimize performance.
  • Proven ability to mentor teams and drive engineering best practices.

Other Qualifications (OQ): 

  •  Relevant certifications ( AWS Certified Solutions Architect etc.) are a plus. 
  •  Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and strong Shell scripting experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to understand and meet architecture requirements, ensuring effective design, development, validation, and support.
  • Capability to identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs, with the ability to recommend effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks and ensuring the scalability and efficiency of applications.
