Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Senior Operations Manager at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.  NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement.  We are a one-of-a-kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park.  NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.    We are seeking a unique Senior Operations Manager to join our Operations team.   Under general supervision, the Senior Operations Manager manages, coordinates, supervises, and directs personnel, subcontractors, and the daily activities involved in the successful execution of events and maintenance of the facility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following: 

  • Oversee all aspects of operations including event coordination and services, rigging, housekeeping, event staffing, set-ups and changeovers, crowd and risk management, fire and life safety and ADA compliance.

  • Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee employees in various functions.

  • Primary contact for events related Facility Services (Housekeeping), Contract Labor services, Landscape Services, Pest Control, and Waste Services.

  • Implement and train all employees on the operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety/risk management policies that conform to NRG Park standards.

  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, housekeeping services, maintenance, and other agreements as needed. 

  • Manages Transition and Operations Manager Assignment Calendar

  • Review contracts for compliance with event and/or government specifications and NRG Park requirements.

  • Review contracts, communicate with tenants, and work with subcontractors to determine special requirements.  

  • Inspect conversions, construction, and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.

  • Manages warehouse, storage, and inventory control.   

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and recommend an annual capital budget for long-range repairs and improvements to the facility. 

  • Authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.

  • Assists with oversight of special projects, such as construction, remodeling, or expansion. Helps to plan and direct outside vendors/contractors, to assure compliance with contracts and safety requirements.

  • Act as a liaison between tenants and facility contractors as needed.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities    

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility rigging capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set-up and conversions; typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining the facility equipment; and proper use and care of hand and power tools.

  • Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.

  • Engage in much decision-making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy.

  • Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.

  • Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches, event documents and preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Read and comprehend drawings, event documents and preventative maintenance documents, and other related materials.  

  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.        

  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Education and/or Experience        

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and four (4) years related experience and/or training in the public assembly industry in a supervisory or management position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 to 5 Years previous experience in the sports and entertainment and/or venue management industry preferred.

  • Forklift experience preferred. 

Skills and Abilities

  • Possess skills and experience in contract negotiations, business law, budget preparation, purchasing procedures and supervising/training personnel.

  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

Computer Skills

  • Operate a personal computer using CAD, Outlook, Windows, Word, Excel and other standard office equipment.

Other Qualifications

  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
