The Developer Platform, Productivity & Experience Engineering team within eBay’s Global Technology organization builds and operates eBay’s AI/ML-powered Internal Developer Platform (IDP).

About the Role
We are hiring Senior Platform Engineers to modernize and scale eBay’s development and staging environments — mission-critical infrastructure that underpins software delivery and forms a core foundation of our Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
Instability in development environments directly impacts pipeline success and developer productivity. In this role, you will drive reliability improvements, reduce systemic friction, and ensure our infrastructure scales securely and efficiently as eBay grows.
What you will accomplish
Design and build microservices (Java / Spring Boot) that extend and integrate with eBay’s IDP
Develop intuitive front-end experiences for the Internal Developer Platform using React
Build, operate, and scale Kubernetes-based development environments
Design automated, reproducible, and highly reliable dev/staging infrastructure
Reduce pipeline failures caused by environment dependencies
Drive automation and operational excellence through Python scripting
Strengthen the scalability, resilience, and performance of eBay’s Internal Developer Platform
What you will bring
Proven experience building microservices using Java / Spring Boot
Frontend development experience with React
Strong Python scripting and automation skills
Deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure
Strong distributed systems and platform engineering fundamentals
High ownership mindset with focus on reliability, scalability, and developer productivity
This is a hands-on Platform Engineering role focused on designing and building critical developer infrastructure — not a QE, administrator, or support role.
You will also be expected to:
- Work closely w/ colleagues in different functional groups and remote offices
- Enjoy being on a team of motivated, collaborative, high-achievers
- Communicate optimally within your team and across teams.
- Identify project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships, and provide alternative solutions as well as risk mitigation.

BS/Master’s Degree or Equivalent.

Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$118,800 - $205,600Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
