The Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business is experiencing unprecedented growth. Our two design centers in Endicott, New York and a new state of the art development center in Austin, Texas are the home for our next generation technical solutions. Engineers will develop flight and mission-critical products for more than 170 commercial and military customers. This role is based in Austin, TX and involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will take the form of a hybrid work schedule, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Position Summary
Join our team of Digital Circuit Design Engineers who are tasked with the architecture, design, test, and verification of high-reliability electronics circuit card assemblies. In this position you will provide electrical engineering support to a dynamic engineering development team, leading first unit test, design verification test, integration and transition to production tasks on complex digital circuit cards and modules.
The successful candidate must possess strong technical aptitude, communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally within the hardware organization and with other engineering disciplines/functions. Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment in technical areas.
This position may include the following activities:
  • Design of complex high speed digital circuit card assemblies that utilize interfaces such as PCIe
  • Schematic and layout capture of digital circuits such as FPGA's and Microprocessors, including component selection, floor planning, power analysis, and timing analysis
  • Signal integrity analysis utilizing software programs such as MATLAB and HyperLynx as well as hands-on high-speed signal integrity lab verification
  • Develop and execute digital verification test procedures
  • Experience with writing and executing test plans for environmental testing of high reliability electronics
  • Support test and troubleshooting of systems, modules and sub-assemblies of digital modules, working directly with program engineering personnel as required
  • Interface with Engineering, Operations, Quality and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause
  • Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation
  • Interface with governmental customers and suppliers as required
  • Mentor peers and junior engineers in areas of expertise

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in electrical engineering or equivalent and 12+ years of industry experience in Digital Circuit Design, or MS in electrical engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of industry experience in Digital Circuit Design
  • Familiarity with high-speed digital design of circuit card assemblies, including simulation, PWB layout and routing, and signal integrity analysis.
  • Experience with the design, build, integration and/or test of complex electronic systems.
  • Able to research and apply electrical engineering principles and theories to solve electrical engineering problems.
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Exhibits sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customer, and suppliers

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in electrical engineering or equivalent and 15+ years of industry experience in Digital Circuit Design, or MS in electrical engineering or equivalent and 13+ years of industry experience in Digital Circuit Design
  • FPGA based circuit card design.
  • Embedded processors, PCIe, Ethernet, 1553, SERDES, Fiber Optic, DDR3/DDR4
  • CAD based schematic capture and simulation (Mentor/Siemens Xpedition)
  • Able to direct layout and routing rules
  • Pre & Post routing simulation using HyperLynx
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to effectively work in a team environment - Team Leader
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability with demonstrated design success
  • Ability to own the design and close on discrete tasking in a timely manner as well as lead others to closure
  • Experience presenting technical information to program teams and/or customers.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
