ParentSquare is rooted in the belief that when families are involved, students thrive. We're founder-led, started in 2011 by a parent who saw firsthand how much stronger classrooms become when schools and families work together, and making that partnership possible for every family is still our mission today.
As the trusted leader in school-home engagement, we help schools reach the parents and guardians of more than 22 million students in 190+ languages through the channels families prefer, including app, text, email, and phone. Our all-in-one platform brings together communications, attendance, forms, payments, and websites to simplify how schools and families connect and take action. ParentSquare Intelligence, the AI and data layer built into ParentSquare, turns engagement and attendance data into insights that guide proactive outreach, so districts can offer families the right support at the right time. Over 42,000 schools in all 50 states use ParentSquare to build trust with their communities and save staff time.
The ParentSquare app consistently ranks among the top five free apps in the U.S., and we’ve been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies four years in a row and to the Inc. Best Workplaces list for the past two years. We’re a diverse, remote-first team that cares about each other, and about the schools and families they serve. Sound like your kind of place? We’d love to have you help us build what’s next.
Our Communications product is how districts reach every family, in their own language, and the people on the other end are often skimming on a phone, skipping steps, and fitting school news between everything else in their day.
ParentSquare is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own the end-to-end experience of our Communications product, used by families and educators in districts across the country. This is a new role on a cross-functional product team, where you'll take work from discovery through shipped product as an equal voice alongside Product and Engineering. You'll partner with our new UX Research and Design Systems practices, use AI tools to prototype faster, and help raise our craft bar by mentoring other designers.
Above all, you'll bring our two permissions to play:
- Humility. We're heads-down builders who'd rather let the work speak. You'll test your ideas with real families and educators, welcome feedback in critique, and share credit with the researchers, engineers, and designers who make the work better.
- Passion for our mission. When a message reaches a parent in their language and makes sense on the first read, that family can show up for their child. You'll design for that parent first.
- Owning end-to-end design for our Communications product, from problem framing through shipped experience
- Defining the problem before exploring solutions, and pushing back when a request is a solution without a clear problem
- Simplifying complex workflows like district-wide messaging, forms, payments, and permissions for people who skim, skip steps, and make mistakes
- Partnering with UX Research, Customer Success, and Support to understand real usage, run usability tests, and make data-informed decisions
- Designing accessible, translation-ready experiences, including right-to-left languages, for families of every ability, device, and comfort level with technology
- Building on and contributing to our design system, with production-ready work that covers states, edge cases, and responsive and native behavior
- Using AI tools to prototype, and designing AI-powered features that people can understand, review, control, and correct
- Presenting and defending design decisions with stakeholders, then partnering with engineers through implementation and review
- Mentoring other designers and helping raise the craft bar across the team
- 5+ years of product design experience, including shipped work on complex web and native mobile (iOS and Android) products
- A portfolio with 2–3 in-depth case studies that show how you framed the problem, made decisions, and measured results
- Strong interaction design, information architecture, and visual design skills, with fluency in Figma, prototyping, and design systems
- Experience running usability tests and using research and analytics to guide design decisions
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in your design workflow, such as Claude, Cursor, or Figma Make
- Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
- Clear communication and the ability to influence product managers, engineers, and leadership
Bonus points for:
- Experience in EdTech, K-12, or products where the buyer and the end user are different people
- Experience designing for multilingual or low-literacy users
- Experience designing AI-powered features, including how people review, control, and correct AI output
- Experience prototyping in code (React, or HTML and CSS) with AI coding tools
