This role will work with our FedRAMP program and requires US Citizenship and onsite work in Austin, Texas.
Want to be on a team full of results-driven individuals who are constantly seeking to innovate? Want to make an impact? At SailPoint, our Engineering team does just that. Our engineering is where high-quality professional engineering meets individual impact. Our team builds products on a mature, cloud-native, event-driven microservices architecture hosted in AWS.
SailPoint is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our Engineering team for Data Access Security (DAS). DAS is SailPoint’s SaaS data access governance product, delivered as part of SailPoint Agentic Fabric. It helps organizations discover, classify, and govern access to sensitive data (structured and unstructured) across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises systems — and connect that insight to human and AI identity context so customers can enforce least privilege, monitor risky activity, and streamline compliance.
In this role, you are responsible for characterizing the technical quality of Data Access Security across a continuous SaaS delivery model. You will join the US team, which is part of a larger international DAS Engineering organization. You will serve as a member of a Scrum team assigned to specific product features, and you will own the development, maintenance, and execution of test cases — both in the DAS control plane (application onboarding, crawling, permissions collection, data classification, activity monitoring, forensics, certifications, and alerts) and against the connectors that reach customer data sources. You will also work directly with internal stakeholders and external customers to reproduce reported issues, isolate defects, and confirm resolution.
We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic who can work with a team of very experienced Developers and Testers, both locally in the US and with colleagues across our international DAS organization. Lack of experience in a particular technology or platform is not a showstopper as long as there is a skill of immediate usefulness, as well as a commitment to continual learning.
Skills
• Minimum 6 years experience testing enterprise software, preferably SaaS or cloud-native products
• Experience testing distributed systems (APIs, microservices, asynchronous/event-driven workflows)
• Proven ability to develop and maintain test cases
• Proven ability to work with software development engineers for problem reproduction and resolution
• Proven ability to design and execute end-to-end tests across UI, APIs, and data outcomes (crawl results, permissions, classification, activity events)
• Proven ability to successfully relate to varying levels of functional and technical personnel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly desirable
• Familiarity with C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript, JSON, and XML
• Experience with REST API testing (Postman or similar)
• Experience with SQL and one or more database platforms (SQL Server strongly preferred; Oracle, MySQL, or similar also valuable)
• Experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online, OneDrive), cloud file storage (Box, Google Drive, AWS S3), data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks), or on-prem file/NAS systems (Windows File Server, NetApp, SMB)
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, or Kafka-based services
• Experience with identity governance, access certifications, or data classification

This position is based in Austin, Texas, on the US DAS team, which is part of SailPoint’s international Data Access Security Engineering organization.

Author and execute comprehensive test plans for at least two new feature enhancements, validating UI workflows, REST API contracts, and backend data processing pipelines.
Partner with development engineers to isolate, document, and verify resolutions for at least 5 complex defects or customer-reported issues.
6 months:

Drive measurable improvements in test coverage across asynchronous and event-driven data classification and activity monitoring pipelines.
Serve as a subject matter expert on DAS quality characterization, mentoring team members on test strategy and defect isolation best practices.
1 year:
Lead the comprehensive testing strategy for major DAS product releases, ensuring zero critical escaped defects in production across control plane workflows and connector integrations.
Establish standardized quality metrics and automated validation routines that reduce regression cycle turnaround times across distributed SaaS microservices.
