The SkyGrid team is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to manage system, software, and hardware quality assurance for all SkyGrid products. The ideal candidate will have a background in systems and software quality assurance with expert knowledge in quality processes and guidelines as established by ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178C and DO-254. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a background in corporate quality assurance and is familiar with Quality Management System (QMS) associated standards such as AS9100D, AS9100, or ISO900. This role will work closely with the Engineering and Program organizations to define processes, methods, and enforce compliance by assessing adherence to the operating procedures and working instructions. This position reports to the Director of Assurance and while a hybrid workplace is preferred, it can be considered a fully remote role. 

Performance Objectives:

  • Develop QMS streamlining with SMS and SecMS within the first year. 
  • Conduct monthly QMS audits for each discipline per AS9100D Business Management Review. 
  • Conduct regular QMS audits in preparation for annual AS9100D evaluation and continued re-certification. 
  • Address open actions, CARS, and SOI audit reviews from conception to closure. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate corporate level QMS through business pyramid that aligns with SMS and SecMS. 
  • Develop company policies, operating procedures, and work instructions. 
  • Ensure audit process exists for compliance at company and product/program level. 
  • Able to understand regulatory standards as defined by FAA and foreign regulatory agencies, and decipher the level of compliance required. 
  • Ensure compliance at the product/program level per planning document. 
  • Manage teams and ensure staffing needs are identified. 
  • Identify company and program risks and communicate to relevant parties for a timely resolution. 
  • Act as primary interface/contact to regulatory authorities for quality assurance. 
  • Monitor new and novel standards that may be levied to the company or program. 
  • Manage and report assurance and certification risks for escalation and resolution in a timely manner. 
  • Represent SkyGrid at applicable industry organizations and events. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM. 
  • 10+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry. 
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance for highly complex system (DAL C and higher). 
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards. 
  • Experience leading quality assurance audits with regulators throughout the entire program development lifecycle. 
  • Effective communication skills, self-driven, and capable of participating in regulatory focused discussions. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience presenting concisely to large groups of people including customers, regulatory authorities, internal technical groups, and leadership teams. 
  • Familiarity with certification standards such as 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, or 29.
