Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer iOS with Native Chat & AI experiences to build and enhance native chat and AI-powered conversational experiences on iOS. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Swift, modern iOS architectures, real-time messaging, API integrations, dynamic rich UI development, accessibility, security, and AI/LLM-powered applications. An ideal Candidate is a senior iOS engineer who combines deep native mobile expertise with experience in chat platforms, API integrations, rich markdown-based UI, AI/LLM technologies, accessibility, security, and scalable enterprise-grade application development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain native iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit
  • Build scalable chat and collaboration experiences, including messaging, notifications, presence, typing indicators, rich media, and offline sync
  • Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs and collaborate with backend teams on service contracts and architecture
  • Create dynamic and responsive user experiences with support for: Markdown rendering, Rich text, Hyperlinks, mentions, code blocks, Interactive cards and media content
  • Develop AI-powered conversational experiences leveraging LLMs and streaming responses
  • Ensure high standards for performance, reliability, accessibility, and security
  • Mentor engineers, participate in architecture reviews, and drive engineering excellence

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 5+ years experience in native iOS development
  • Expert proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit
  • Strong experience with: Real-time messaging applications, WebSockets and push notifications, Offline-first architectures and synchronization, REST APIs and service integrations, Modern iOS architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture, etc)
  • Experience building dynamic rich UI experiences with markdown and rich-content rendering
  • Strong knowledge of mobile performance optimization, testing, and CI/CD
  • Experience implementing Accessible mobile experiences with a strong understanding of: VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Accessibility labels and navigation, WCAG and inclusive design principles
  • Experience with secure mobile application development, including: OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, Secure token management, Keychain storage, Encryption of data in transit and at rest, Certificate pinning and secure API communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly preferred experience integrating AI services and building Copilot-style conversational experiences.
  • Familiarity with: Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), Streaming AI responses, Conversation and context management
  • Experience building products similar to Teams, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, or AI-powered chat applications
  • Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, GraphQL, and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and driving architectural decisions

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
