About the company

Our client is a seed-stage consumer fintech company building an AI tax accountant backed by human CPA expertise. Customers reach the service by call, text, chat or email, and staff CPAs review high-impact decisions. The company has raised $7M and is building a year-round financial partnership instead of a once-a-year tax questionnaire.

The role / why it matters

As Senior Software Engineer, you will own product features from backend data architecture to the UI on a small remote team. You will turn agent workflows into reliable experiences people can trust with sensitive financial data, and help shape architecture as the product grows.

What you'll do

• Design, build and operate production full-stack features in TypeScript, Node.js and React.

• Own data models, backend services, event flows and user interfaces end to end.

• Build data pipelines and distributed systems as customer usage grows.

• Partner with AI engineers to bring agent workflows into polished product experiences.

• Design auditability, security and access controls for a regulated financial domain.

• Use AI coding tools daily and help establish the team's engineering practices.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience after school.

• A degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

• A record of shipping and operating production full-stack features from data model through UI.

• Production TypeScript experience with Node.js and React or Next.js, plus Python, Kafka or event-driven pipelines and distributed systems.

• Experience at an early-stage startup or a startup-like team, and with fintech payments, billing, ledger or risk systems.

• Strong ownership, product judgment and comfort shipping with minimal guidance.

Bonus points

• Familiarity with security and compliance for sensitive financial data.

• Experience building scalable backend services and microservices.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

• $185,000-$225,000 annual base salary.

• Competitive equity.

• Quarterly team offsites.

Location / work model

Full-time and fully remote for candidates based in New York, Chicago or the US Pacific time zone. Optional collaboration is available in New York and Chicago; quarterly offsite travel is required. Relocation support is not available. Visa sponsorship and transfers are not available.
