Atlassian's Gen AI Platform team builds the shared execution platform for production AI agents. The platform handles durable execution, tool and model integration, reliability, observability, and isolation so product teams can ship agent experiences independently.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own critical platform capabilities, lead complex initiatives, and raise the engineering bar across the team.
In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $180,000 - $235,000
Zone B: $162,000 - $211,500
Zone C: $149,400 - $195,050
Experience with agent runtimes, MCP, plugin ecosystems, durable workflows, sandboxed execution, or AI evaluation and observability is highly valued.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own critical platform capabilities, lead complex initiatives, and raise the engineering bar across the team.
- Lead ambiguous, cross-component initiatives from technical design through rollout and measurement.
- Design and build scalable agent runtimes, backend services, APIs, and developer-platform capabilities.
- Establish stable contracts that allow teams to ship agents without depending on platform releases.
- Make architectural decisions involving distributed execution, state, recovery, security, and extensibility.
- Lead migrations and high-risk changes with appropriate compatibility and rollout strategies.
- Improve reliability through observability, capacity planning, incident response, and systemic follow-up.
- Influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and improve code and design-review practices.
- Partner with product, AI, security, and infrastructure teams on cross-team outcomes.

- Proficiency in a language such as TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
- A track record of owning complex systems from design through production operations.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous execution, consistency, retries, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Experience writing technical designs, leading difficult decisions, and resolving production issues.
- Ability to influence across teams and mentor other engineers.
