The Senior Technical Product Manager, Data plays a critical role in defining and delivering Skillable’s data products, analytics capabilities, and data infrastructure. Own areas of Skillable’s data ecosystem by driving the technical planning, requirements definition, and making data more accessible, reliable, actionable, and scalable across the organization and customer experience. Partner closely with engineering, data, infrastructure and other business stakeholders to translate data strategy into scalable, secure, and extensible technical features, while providing strategic direction and contributing to high-level roadmap decisions.


What You Will Do:

  • Own the planning and delivery of platform capabilities within a defined technical scope (e.g., self service reporting, internal business intelligence, data dictionary, customer data access, insights generation). 
  • Translate high-level product strategy into actionable technical requirements and system designs for engineering execution. 
  • Partner with platform architects, DevOps, and engineering leaders to ensure technical feasibility, performance, and security of product initiatives. 
  • Serve as the Product Owner within Agile delivery teams, maintaining a well-groomed backlog and writing clear, technically sound features and user stories with acceptance criteria. 
  • Build, champion and execute on the product vision, strategy and plans to expand Skillable’s total addressable market. 
  • Define and establish metrics for feature adoption and engagement. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in internal platform tooling, automation, and integration with external systems. 
  • Lead technical planning sessions, architecture trade-off discussions, and risk evaluations. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned domain areas, partner with product marketing and enablement, and contribute to documentation, technical specs, and knowledge sharing. 
  • Participate in incident reviews and proactively identify root causes and resolution paths in collaboration with SRE and engineering teams. 
  • Represent platform needs in cross-functional engineering forums, sprint demos, and internal release reviews. 
  • Act as subject matter experts in assigned domain areas for customer escalations, engagements, and outbound activities. 
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to leverage AI to improve data products, workflows, automation, and user experiences. 
  • Incorporate AI capabilities and emerging technologies into product strategy and roadmap planning where they provide meaningful business and customer value. 
  • Leverage AI tools to improve product discovery, requirements development, data analysis, documentation, and other product management workflows. 
  • Contribute to interviewing and selecting new team members. 
  • Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. 
  • Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required. 


What You Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field—or equivalent work experience. 
  • 8+ years in technical product management or a related technical role (e.g., engineering, DevOps, systems architecture). 
  • 5+ years working with customers, writing requirements for new product offerings, and collaborating with architects, developers, and related peer groups.  
  • Strong experience with AI tools, technologies, and platforms to accelerate and automate many of the tasks and processes to effectively create value. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify practical opportunities to apply AI to solve business or customer problems. 
  • Experience using AI tools to support product management activities such as research, requirements development, analysis, documentation, or decision making. 
  • Familiarity with data extraction (Boomi/Rivery), loading, transformation (DBT) and visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) processes and tools 
  • Familiarity with cloud, container, and datacenter platforms (Azure, AWS) and associated services (e.g., networking, identity, observability, storage) preferred. 
  • Proven ability to write clear, technically rigorous requirements, and collaborate on architectural decision-making. 
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams with influence to deliver backend or infrastructure-heavy projects while promoting collaborative partnerships to drive results. 
  • Interest and ability in mentoring and/or training other team members as applicable. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively to various audiences/levels, both internal and external stakeholders, including leadership through various mediums. 
  • Ability to present and convey material both formally and informally to all levels of an organization. 
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to address short-term and long-term demands simultaneously. 
  • Easily adaptable with the ability to pivot with changing business needs, keeping a professional demeanor and leading by example for other colleagues. 
  • Experience working in Agile environments, managing backlogs, and collaborating with engineering teams on sprint planning and delivery. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, prioritization, and documentation skills. 
  • Comfortable operating in a fully remote environment using modern communication and collaboration tools. 
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. 
  • High-level of confidence, integrity and professional courtesy. 
  • Strong Microsoft suite experience, including teams or similar web conferencing and internal communication software experience preferred. 
  • Naturally inquisitive with a desire to learn, solve problems and dig into detailed analysis. 
  • Experience working in a fully remote team is preferred, but not required. 
  • Thorough understanding (or willingness to learn expeditiously) of business operations and processes. 
  • Background in systems design or hands-on engineering preferred. 
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of Skillable platform technologies including lab design, lab creation, lab management, lab delivery, and lab architecture preferred. 
  • Experience supporting or building platforms used internally by engineering and product teams preferred. 
  • Experience in software engineering and software design preferred. 


Salary Range:

The base salary for this position is $145,000 - $165,000 annually. Consistent with applicable laws, compensation will be determined based on the candidate's level, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience along with requirements for the position and annual financial plans. 


Skillable is a distributed first team with employees working across the U.S., and we do not consider geography when determining compensation ranges. 


Pay range and current benefit offerings are effective for 90 days from posting date.  Standard employment offerings are subject to potential change upon periodic review and analysis, at the discretion of Skillable.

  • Stipend of $200 a month for office expenses.

Working Conditions:  

The job conditions for this position are in a remote home office setting, requiring a space that supports privacy and focus to attend to regular and frequent video and voice calls. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Periodic travel may be required equaling up to approximately 10% of the time.
