As a Senior Technical Program Manager you will be responsible for collaborating to deliver the next generation of our cloud capacity management technology and managing our region health, a critical investment area for Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities
  • You will have a large area of the business to own and operate autonomously
  • You will partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.
  • You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.
  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plan, and manage governance programs.
  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You’ll also lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements: 

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in any or all of cloud infrastructure management, datacenter design and operations, server and network equipment deployments, rack design, server design, server/network hardware/software interaction, automation and control systems, network engineering, distributed systems, new product and service development, high performance computing and GPUs.
  • 2+ years experience building cloud applications, and knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings .
  • Experience building decision-support, planning, allocation, or optimization products that drive business-critical operational decisions at scale.
  • Proven track record translating business policies, constraints, and objectives into durable platform capabilities rather than one-off solutions.
  • Experience building rules-based systems, recommendation engines, policy engines, or optimization-driven products.
  • Demonstrated systems-thinking skills with the ability to model complex relationships between supply, demand, commitments, constraints, and business priorities.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, data science, operations research, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience defining decision frameworks, tradeoffs, and success metrics in resource-constrained environments.
  • Experience building reusable platform capabilities that support multiple scenarios, workflows, and customers.
  • Strong product instincts with the ability to simplify complex operational problems into scalable products and experiences.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
