Senior Vice President, Business Strategy
What You’ll Do
As our Senior Vice President, Business Strategy, you are the strategic sales leader who is highly effective in building relationships with clients, leading teams, as well as adept and well-versed in hematology/oncology and highly scientific disease areas making a significant impact in healthcare. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the strategic challenges facing pharma and our clients and offer innovative solutions. In this role and as part of the Vaniam Group growth strategy, you will help develop effective messaging, solutions, and sales materials to engage clients and support their pipeline and business priorities.
You will be directly accountable for developing, maintaining, and advancing a clear and measurable sales pipeline that drives sustained business growth. You will partner with the Service Line Leads, Business Strategy, Client Services and Strategic Scientific Service teams to build relationships and deepen client proximity, prospect and generate leads, present tailored solutions, and secure client commitment to Vaniam Group services. In this role, you will also work cross-functionally within the organization to shape client growth strategies and ensure alignment with Vaniam Group’s long-term vision.
A Day in the Life
Business Development
- Deliver growth aligned to Vaniam Group’s annual strategy, budget, forecast, and KPIs.
- Collaborate with the President, EVP of Client Solutions, Client Solutions Leadership, SVP of Strategic Scientific Services, CTO, and CMO to develop the Vaniam growth strategy.
- Develop, lead, and/or support presentations to prospective and existing clients, securing new business opportunities.
- Ensure all customer-facing assets align with client objectives and therapeutic priorities.
- Lead, manage, and develop the business strategy team to achieve strategic goals.
- Develop sales targets for each business strategy team member.
- Provide mentorship to drive performance, professional growth, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Manage business development processes, including sales forecasts and reports, ensuring high-quality insights are delivered to the Executive Committee.
- Build strong client relationships and establish Vaniam Group as both a strategic partner and industry expert.
- Partner across internal teams to incubate and promote innovative capabilities, including evolving digital solutions to meet client needs.
Deliverables
- Have a deep understanding of therapeutic trends and market dynamics in oncology/hematology and other priority scientific areas.
- Identify client pipeline opportunities and lifecycle challenges to deliver actionable recommendations.
- Communicate insights on market trends, lifecycle shifts, and competitive movements, equipping clients to strategically respond to key events.
- Ensure proposals and strategic deliverables adhere to healthcare regulations and align with client and market requirements.
- Recommend organizational enhancements to position Vaniam Group for sustained and accelerated growth.
What You Have
Education and Experience
- Advanced Degree: PhD, PharmD, MD, MBA, MSN, ARNP, or a related degree preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of healthcare experience, with at least 5 years in the medical communications industry.
Skills and Competencies
- Comprehensive experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries—demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of lifecycle management and clinical development.
- Strong leadership skills, including experience managing teams and fostering collaboration across business functions.
- A polished presentation style with the ability to engage audiences, including clients and key opinion leaders (KOLs), with confidence and scientific rigor.
- Solutions-oriented problem-solving abilities, with strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
- Effective Communication: Strong skills in negotiation, relationship-building, and conveying complex information.
- Technical Proficiency: Highly skilled in optimal CRM use, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Chrome/Firefox, Egnyte/Dropbox, and Zoom.
- Willingness to travel within the US and internationally based on project and business needs (up to 60% travel expected).

You will collaborate closely with Business Strategy, Strategic Scientific Services, and Client Solutions teams to craft bespoke solutions for pharmaceutical clients, particularly in oncology and rare disease pipelines.
