Summary

HR Green is bringing its Workday integration portfolio in-house, and we are looking for a Senior Workday Integration Developer to take ownership of it. Our Workday environment connects HR, payroll, and finance data with key enterprise systems through custom Workday Studio integrations and packaged connectors. As HR Green transitions to Workday and gradually brings integration support in-house, you will assume ownership of integrations from our implementation partner, resolve production issues, maintain existing integrations, and develop new capabilities as our enterprise systems evolve.

In addition to Workday integration responsibilities, this individual will support HR Green's firm-wide AI program by maintaining and adapting AI agents and automations currently being developed by external specialists, with opportunities to build new solutions as our capabilities mature. Working with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external partners, this role will help ensure AI solutions are secure, maintainable, and aligned with HR Green's business needs.

This is a permanent, in-house, fully remote role within one of the states where HR Green currently operates, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, and Texas. It is not a project engagement. This role offers an opportunity to take long-term ownership of enterprise integrations while expanding into applied AI development and helping HR Green bring new technology capabilities in-house.

What You'll DoWorkday Integration Development & Support
  • Lead the transition of our Workday integrations from the implementation partner to internal ownership, including knowledge transfer, runbook and specification review, and establishing monitoring and support procedures.

  • Serve as the primary support resource for production integrations, with priority on payroll-impacting feeds, and maintain the integration inventory and documentation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Workday integration issues, including diagnosing failures across systems, performing root-cause analysis, and restoring service.

  • Design, build, test, and deploy new and modified integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, Reports as a Service, and XSLT, including Studio integrations that call connected systems' REST APIs.

  • Mature error handling, batch tracking, logging, and notifications so failures are caught before they affect payroll or onboarding.

  • Plan and run integration regression testing for Workday releases and connected-system upgrades.

AI Development & Technical Support
  • Support HR Green's firm-wide AI program by collaborating with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external specialists to implement and maintain AI solutions that support business operations and project delivery.

  • Take ownership of AI agents and supporting integrations developed by external specialists, maintaining and adapting solutions as business needs and systems evolve.

  • Develop and maintain secure API connectors, integrations, and service identities that enable approved AI agents to interact with HR Green systems.

  • Support the development of new AI agents and automations, independently or in collaboration with external specialists, as HR Green's AI capabilities expand.

  • Apply appropriate development, testing, monitoring, documentation, and lifecycle management practices to ensure AI solutions are secure, reliable, and maintainable.

  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of AI use cases across project delivery, design, QA/QC, proposals, project management, and back-office operations.

  • Collaborate with IT leadership, the COO, executive leadership, and business line leaders to support the evaluation and implementation of AI solutions that align with HR Green's business priorities.

General Responsibilities
  • Apply secure development practices and follow HR Green change-management, source-control, and release processes.

  • Some after-hours work is expected to support payroll-sensitive integrations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Five or more years of experience developing and supporting system integrations, including at least three years of hands-on experience developing and supporting Workday integrations in production. Demonstrated proficiency with Workday Studio and working familiarity with EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Web Services, Reports as a Service, and XSLT.

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining integrations built by others, including diagnosing cross-system failures, performing root-cause analysis, and restoring service.

  • Hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs, JSON and XML, token-based authentication, and OAuth 2.0.

  • Working proficiency in XML/XSLT and at least one general-purpose programming language, along with experience using source control and code review.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders, including HR, Finance, IT, and operations partners.

  • Demonstrated aptitude and interest in applying AI and automation platforms to business problems, including the ability to evaluate, maintain, and adapt solutions developed by external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building on LLM platforms or enterprise copilot/agent tooling.

  • Experience integrating professional-services ERP, payroll or benefits providers, identity directories, ITSM, or learning platforms.

  • Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of SQL.

  • Experience with secure integrations supporting AI-enabled applications.

  • Current or prior Workday integration certification or equivalent formal Workday Studio training; cloud or AI certifications are a plus.

Why join HR Green?

  • It's your chance to join one of the country's longest-operating engineering firms and a leader in local markets in design engineering and construction with over 700 employees in 19 offices around the nation.
