The Snowflake Platform Administrator will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission on the Snowflake data platform modernization initiative. This role is responsible for managing and optimizing the Snowflake platform, including role-based access control, SSO integration, and enterprise data governance. The administrator will enable and support AI capabilities through Snowflake Cortex while maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient platform operations. The position collaborates closely with data engineers, analysts, and AI teams to support data pipelines built on DBT and Openflow. This is a senior-level, on-site engagement requiring deep hands-on experience with enterprise Snowflake administration.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and optimize the Snowflake platform across enterprise environments, ensuring performance, security, and availability.
  • Design, implement, and manage role-based access control (RBAC), user provisioning, and privilege structures aligned with enterprise IAM processes.
  • Integrate Snowflake with SSO providers such as Okta and SailPoint to support identity and access management requirements.
  • Enable and govern Snowflake AI (Cortex) features, including AI functions, monitoring, and compliance controls.
  • Build, maintain, and support data pipelines and transformations using DBT.
  • Integrate Snowflake with Openflow and similar workflow orchestration tools to automate data workflows.
  • Monitor and optimize warehouse performance, query execution, and platform cost efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain security controls including data encryption, dynamic data masking, and audit monitoring.
  • Develop automation scripts to support provisioning, routine maintenance, and platform monitoring.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and AI teams to support data and analytics use cases across the organization.


Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - Candidates must meet ALL minimum qualifications
  • 8 years of hands-on experience administering the Snowflake platform in a DBA or administrator capacity.
  • 8 years of experience implementing RBAC and data access governance frameworks.
  • 8 years of experience with SSO integration using Okta, SailPoint, or equivalent identity providers.
  • 8 years of experience enabling and supporting Snowflake AI (Cortex) features, including AI functions, governance, and monitoring.
  • 8 years of experience designing and managing Snowflake roles, privileges, and user provisioning aligned with enterprise IAM processes.
  • 8 years of experience building and supporting data pipelines and transformations using DBT.
  • 8 years of experience integrating Snowflake with Openflow or similar orchestration tools for workflow automation.
  • 8 years of experience monitoring and optimizing warehouse performance, cost management, and query execution.
  • 8 years of experience implementing security controls including encryption, masking, and audit monitoring.
  • 8 years of experience developing automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and platform maintenance.
  • 8 years of experience collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and AI teams to support data and analytics use cases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for data platforms.
  • 3 years of experience integrating Openflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
  • 3 years of familiarity with public sector or healthcare compliance environments.
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location. Out-of-state candidates or those planning to relocate will not be considered.
  • Services are expected to commence on 09/01/2026 and conclude by 08/31/2027.
  • Total estimated hours shall not exceed 2,008 hours.
  • This engagement may be amended, renewed, or extended upon mutual written agreement by both parties.
Work Location and Schedule
Location: 701 W. 51st Street, Austin, TX 78751
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding Texas state holidays.
Work Arrangement: On-site only. No remote work is permitted.
