About the team and the role:

At eBay, trust is the foundation of our global marketplace. The Identity & Access Management (IAM) team within Cloud Security Engineering builds secure, scalable, and seamless access experiences for users, services, and developers worldwide.

Our team is responsible for enabling secure-by-default access to eBay’s systems and services. We design and build platforms that make it easy for employees, services, and applications to get the right access at the right time, with strong governance and transparency.

As a Full Stack Engineer on this team, you will own features end-to-end, from UI to backend services and data, and play a key role in embedding AI into our identity platforms. You will collaborate across security, platform, and product organizations, while working in a culture that values trust, autonomy, and sustainable work/life balance.

What you will accomplish:

  • Design, build, and evolve full-stack IAM applications in React and Node.js that securely manage access for users, services, and workloads across eBay.

  • Develop and improve identity governance capabilities—such as access requests, approvals, and workflow processes based on rules—that improve access transparency, reduce friction, and strengthen compliance.

  • Integrate AI/ML centric capabilities (for example, anomaly detection, access insights, and risk signals) into identity workflows to proactively identify and mitigate access risks.

  • Leverage AI-powered development and testing tools to improve code quality, increase delivery speed, and enhance the reliability of IAM services.

  • Create data-driven features and metrics that advise smarter access decisions, improve user experience, and help partners understand access posture at scale.

  • Partner with senior engineers, product managers, and security collaborators in design reviews, code reviews, and production support to ensure our systems are scal

  • able, resilient, and easy to operate.

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant full-stack development work using React on the frontend and Node.js on the backend.

  • Proven experience building and operating REST APIs and microservices, with a proven understanding of modern web architectures and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Exposure to, or strong interest in, identity and access management concepts, along with familiarity with authentication and authorization standards such as OAuth2, OIDC, or SAML.

  • Strong proficiency in AI/ML concepts and hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools to design, build, or optimize applications.

  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure), and comfort working in security- or compliance-focused environments.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, effective collaboration in fast-paced, multi-functional teams, and an interest in building AI-enabled features that solve real-world access and security challenges.
