Position Overview

The Vectra Engineering team is a small and constantly growing team of individuals. We look for people that are smart, very capable technically, and have fun solving the challenges that our customers face together as a team. We believe strongly that everyone can and should have significant impacts on the growth of the product as well as the company and our culture. We believe in using the right technology for each problem and building knowledge through mentorship and other things like peer code reviews. We're excited to find others to join the team that wants to work on an interesting product that solves real problems.


Location:

Austin, TX (Hybrid)


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain our software
  • Translate product requirements and concepts into software designs and implementation taking scalability, performance, operational effort and cost into consideration
  • Provide technical leadership in addition to mentoring and encouraging other engineers  
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and maintainability of the product and actively identifies areas for improvement
  • Implement Python focused tooling (scripts, APIs) for both developers and product
  • Work with relational and non-relational databases to support data flow across the entire company
  • Ready to ask questions and dive headfirst into supporting and improving a complex technical stack

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software design and delivery
  • 3+ years Python experience
  • Unix/Linux proficiency
  • Extensive experience with debugging and critical code analysis
  • Proficiency in source code management tools; e.g. Git   
  • Basic networking protocol knowledge
  • Knowledge of software design principles and leading software development practices
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills
  • Willingness to get things done, take initiative and challenge existing assumptions and conventions 

Education:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Our competitive total rewards package includes cash compensation within the range provided below. Actual pay for this position may vary based on the hired candidate’s location, experience and relevant incumbent pay position.

$135,000$158,000 USD

Vectra provides a comprehensive total rewards package that supports the financial, physical, mental and overall health of our employees and their families.
