Job Responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems, including responsive, user-friendly UI components and workflows, and builds and maintains experience services (the API/service layer supporting front-end experiences), primarily using Java.
  • Implements and integrates agentic capabilities — including workflow orchestration, tool/function calling patterns, guardrails, and state management for agent flows — into applications and user journeys.
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards, and contributing learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Collaborates with product, design, and backend teams to translate requirements into reliable, performant solutions.
  • Debugs issues across UI and services using basic SQL queries to validate data, investigate defects, and support root-cause analysis and ensures code quality through reviews, testing, documentation, and adherence to engineering standards.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 3+ years of professional experience in UI development (building production-grade user interfaces) and experience services development (building services/APIs supporting UI experiences).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java for backend/service development (e.g., building RESTful services).
  • Exposure to agentic capabilities / LLM-driven workflows and integrating them into applications.
  • Basic SQL knowledge for writing simple queries used in validation and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools — for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting — with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations, along with experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to work effectively in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Machine Learning exposure (foundational understanding, model integration, or ML-enabled features).
  • Experience with Apache Spark for batch/stream processing, data pipelines, or large-scale data processing.
  • Experience with API design best practices, service reliability, observability, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices (authentication/authorization, data handling, input validation).
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies.
