About the Role

CSC Generation's portfolio runs on a mix of legacy systems spanning .NET, Python, JavaScript, and Java. These applications are critical to daily operations, and they need someone dedicated to keeping them healthy while steadily modernizing how they are built, tested, deployed, and monitored.

As Software Engineer - Legacy Applications & Modernization, you will own the maintenance and incremental improvement of these systems — building CI/CD pipelines, increasing test coverage, containerizing applications, and adding observability so the team can catch problems before customers do. Within your first six months, you will have shipped pipeline and testing improvements that measurably reduce production incidents.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain, debug, and enhance legacy applications written in .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, and Java
  • Analyze and resolve production issues with minimal downtime
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS services, Docker, and Ansible
  • Containerize legacy applications and orchestrate deployments
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management with Ansible
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, administer relational database systems, and implement safe database migrations and schema updates
  • Develop and integrate automated unit and integration tests, increasing test coverage and establishing test automation frameworks
  • Implement logging, metrics, and tracing across legacy applications and configure monitoring and alerting systems to detect issues proactively

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or currently enrolled in a 4-year program pursuing the equivalent, or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated experience with at least 2 of the following: .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, Java
  • Understanding of legacy application patterns and technical debt
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, CodePipeline, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Docker containerization
  • Experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation
  • Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting relational database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Experience writing unit tests and integration tests using frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, JUnit, pytest, or Jest
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Version control experience with Git or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across multiple legacy technology stacks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Background in application modernization or refactoring projects
  • Familiarity with agile development practices
  • AWS certifications or other cloud platform certifications
