About the Role:
The WhereScape Solution Architect is a critical member of the pre-sales organization and a key contributor to revenue growth and customer success. This role serves as the primary technical advisor during the sales cycle,
helping prospective customers understand how WhereScape fits into their data architecture and how it can accelerate data warehouse and analytics initiatives.
You will work closely with Sales to guide customers from early discovery through technical evaluation, demonstrations, and proof-of-value engagements. By combining deep data warehousing expertise with strong
communication skills, you will translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical solutions that address real customer challenges across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
This role combines deep data warehouse expertise with exceptional communication and relationship management. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Support, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure customers receive timely, high-quality solutions to technical challenges.
WhereScape Solution Architect
(Individual Contributor, Pre-Sales)
Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to prospects and customers, supporting the sales cycle from discovery through proof of concept, demonstration, and technical close
  • Design and articulate data warehouse and analytics architectures using WhereScape products across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
  • Lead technical discovery to understand customer data platforms, business requirements, and architectural constraints
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations, workshops, and proof-of-value engagements tailored to customer use cases
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable data warehouse designs, including dimensional, Data Vault, and hybrid approaches
  • Advise customers on best practices for data modeling, data integration, automation, and performance optimization 
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Product Management, and Marketing to ensure accurate positioning, feedback loops, and field enablement
  • Support RFP and technical evaluation responses, including architecture descriptions and solution designs
  • Assist with customer onboarding activities and early-stage implementations as needed to ensure successful outcomes
  • Stay current on WhereScape capabilities, supported platforms, and broader data warehousing and analytics trends

Required Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data warehousing, analytics engineering, or data platform architecture
  • 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales, solution architect, or customer-facing technical role within a software or data platform organization
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, ELT/ETL patterns, and metadata-driven automation
  •  Hands-on experience working with modern data platforms and targets, such as: Cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, Redshift) or Relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Solid SQL skills and the ability to reason about query performance, data structures, and optimization
  • Experience designing and explaining data architectures to both technical and business audiences
  • Comfort working in cloud and hybrid environments, including security, connectivity, and deployment considerations
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple opportunities, and prioritize effectively in a fast-moving sales environment

Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with data warehouse automation tools or metadata-driven platforms
  • Familiarity with analytics engineering tools (dbt, orchestration frameworks, CI/CD concepts)
  • Exposure to enterprise data governance, lineage, or cataloging tools
  • Prior experience with WhereScape products or similar platforms
  • Database administration or performance tuning experience
