Position Summary:

A results-driven and dynamic sales professional responsible for the execution of sales strategies that are consistent with Mercury's strategic goals. The primary job function of this role is to cultivate highly effective sales relationships that drives production and profitability results within an assigned inside territory.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$76,829 to $142,213 (NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$69,845 to $129,284 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$62,860 to $116,356 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)


In CA: Typical hiring range is $98,568.90  to $120,473.10  


The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Motivates and inspires assigned agency plant to achieve new business growth, mix of business, retention, and profitability goals.
  • Responsible for the growth and profitability management of an assigned commercial territory with a portfolio of $25M or over in written premium.
  • Creates sales call plans and complete effective virtual sales calls within an assigned territory to drive the new business required to meet financial goals and sales calls objectives.
  • Develops consistent flow of new business opportunities that fit Mercury's Commercial appetite and eligibility guidelines.
  • Develops expertise in Mercury's Commercial products, platforms, and services to provide solutions for our agents. 
  • Leverages financial incentives such as overrides, rewards campaigns, contingency bonus plans, and trip contests, strategically to influence agency behavior toward achieving goals.
  • Analyzes territory sales data and reports to identify areas for growth and improvement.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for agencies in understanding and communicating with the Mercury team.
  • Implements segmentation strategy within assigned agency plant to maximize visibility.
  • Identifies individual agency’s area of opportunity and create action plans collaboratively to drive improvement.
  • Collects competitive intelligence and industry trends to provide feedback and recommendations to management concerning market conditions, service levels, and effectiveness of Mercury’s Commercial programs.
  • Collaborates with internal business partners to provide a positive customer experience.
  • Other functions may be assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related fields.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (as determined by Company policy) required.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience with sales and marketing or commensurate insurance experience.
  • 4 or more years of experience in growth and profitability management of a commercial insurance portfolio.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

Leadership & Training: 

  • Exhibit leadership skills that are easily recognized by management and peers.
  • Elevates Peers and Team through contributions in special projects, Subject Matter Experts (SME) roles, sharing of ideas, and/or informal mentorships.
  • Interact professionally with agencies and other team members to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
  • Motivate, monitor, and develop assigned agencies to maintain a knowledgeable and well-trained agency force.
  • Facilitate virtual training sessions with agencies.

Professional: 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organization and time management skills and able to Multi-task assigned projects.
  • Analyze and interpret complex reporting.

Communication:

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills used to effectively collaborate and build relationships with agency staff and team members. 
  • Communicate effectively to support Mercury’s policies and offer technical guidance as needed.
  • Negotiating and mediating skills to achieve positive resolutions and explain Mercury’s policies.
  • Able to travel by automobile and/or airline 5% of the time for agency/company meetings or events.
