Position Summary 

The Senior Director, Consumer Insights will lead ecoATM Gazelle's consumer and market insights function, providing a data-driven understanding of customer behavior, motivations, and market trends to inform product, marketing, and business strategy. This role will build a scalable insights capability, spanning quantitative and qualitative research, 1P kiosk transaction and behavioral data, and competitive/market intelligence to provide leadership clear visibility into the customer journey and emerging opportunities. This is a highly visible role during ecoATM Gazelle's post-acquisition growth phase and IPO readiness period, partnering closely with the Executive Management Team (EMT) to ensure strategic investment decisions are grounded in a strong understanding of the consumer. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own the end-to-end consumer insights strategy, including synthesizing primary research (surveys, focus groups, interviews), first-party transactional data, behavioral analytics, competitive intelligence, and market trends into actionable recommendations that translate into action across the organization
  • Establish an aligned-upon consumer learning agenda that prioritizes the most important strategic questions facing the business
  • Establish and manage processes to partner with Marketing, Product, and Business Development to embed consumer insights into go-to-market strategy, product roadmap decisions, and channel/partnership evaluation (e.g., retail embedding, enterprise channels).
  • Develop segmentation models and customer journey maps to inform targeting and experience design
  • Track competitive landscape and market trends relevant to recommerce, consumer electronics, and adjacent categories
  • Present insights and recommendations to the Executive Management Team and board as part of strategic planning and IPO narrative development
  • Manage relationships with external research vendors and panels; oversee research budget
  • Establish insights reporting cadence and self-service dashboards/tools so stakeholders across the business can access consumer data 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Statistics, Psychology, Business, or related field; advanced degree a plus
  • 8+ years of consumer/market research or insights experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong quantitative skills, including experience with survey design, segmentation, and statistical analysis
  • Experience translating research into clear, actionable business recommendations for senior leadership
  • Familiarity with behavioral/transactional data analysis in addition to traditional survey-based research
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills; comfortable presenting to executive leadership and the board
  • Experience in retail, consumer electronics, recommerce, or a fast-paced, PE-backed environment preferred

  • Consumer insights meaningfully influence major strategic decisions across product, marketing, and partnerships
  • Development of actionable customer segmentation, journey maps, and behavioral frameworks
  • Measurable business impact of research-driven recommendations
  • Increased effectiveness of product launches, customer experiences, and marketing campaigns informed by consumer insights
  • Establishment of a scalable framework that continuously improves the organization's understanding of customers and the market

Pay Range (How much might you earn in your base salary?) 

$190,000 - $225,000 (annually)

This position is eligible for short-term and long-term incentives based on individual and company performance.
