About LillyDirect

LillyDirect is Eli Lilly's direct-to-consumer pharmacy platform, bringing life-changing medicines — including GLP-1 therapies — directly to patients. We are building enterprise-grade payment infrastructure to support this mission, and we are looking for a payments leader who wants to build enterprise-grade capability from the ground up.

Role Overview

The Sr. Director, Payment Innovation & External Affairs owns where LillyDirect Payment Operations goes next — from the coming month through the next 18 months. This role exists to keep the function from running in place: building the roadmap for future payment services and capabilities, driving initiatives that improve authorization rates and lower processing cost, and making sure Payment Operations is prepared for whatever changes next, whether legislative, regulatory, competitive, or internal.  This includes ensuring audit readiness for Payment Services.

This role owns B2B vendor contracts — Adyen and future PSPs — including negotiation, renewal.  The Sr. Director will also serve as the primary payments point of contact for our international affiliates as LillyDirect expands globally.

This role reports to the Associate Vice President - Business Operations for LUSA Consumer Services and will have direct reports.

Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the Roadmap and Drive Innovation
  • Build the roadmap for future payment services and capabilities (e.g., ACH, PayPal, BNPL, second PSP, international expansion)
  • Drive innovation initiatives that improve authorization rates, lower processing cost, and expand payment method coverage
  • Serve as the primary payments point of contact for our international affiliates as LillyDirect expands globally
Monitor External and Internal Change
  • Monitor and assess implications of external environmental change — legislation, regulatory shifts, market/competitive landscape
  • Monitor and assess implications of internal change — Lilly policy shifts, shifting CSH priorities, org changes.  Drive appropriate changes to ensure audit readiness.
  • Contribute operational and financial perspective to ongoing payment tool optimization decisions
Own Vendor Strategy
  • Own B2B vendor strategy and contracts (Adyen and future PSPs) — negotiation, renewal, performance management
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Tech@Lilly and LillyDirect Platform Experience to embed automation into payment infrastructure where manual processes currently exist
  • Ensure payment operations perspectives are represented in product and technology roadmap decisions
  • Partner closely with LillyDirect Customer Care, Finance, Platform Experience, and Tech@Lilly on forward-looking initiatives
  • Incorporate operational issues surfaced by the Payment Service Delivery role into roadmap priorities

  • 5+ years in direct-to-consumer payments operations, customer solutions delivery, or customer solutions transformation
