We are seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Program Management (TPM) to lead a high-performing team within Alkami’s Technology group. This leader will drive the execution of complex, cross-functional initiatives, bringing a strong technical foundation and execution excellence to the organization.
The Senior Manager will ensure programs are successfully defined, executed, and delivered—not just tracked. By combining technical depth with strategic program leadership, this role enables proactive decisions, tighter alignment, and a more resilient engineering organization. The ideal candidate has built software themselves, transitioned into program leadership, and thrives in unstructured environments while balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Hire and Grow: Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of Technical Program Managers.

  • Framework Implementation: Apply and refine a TPM framework that balances lightweight processes with rigorous delivery discipline.

  • Lead by Example: Earn trust by being hands-on with critical programs, "rolling up your sleeves" rather than just delegating tasks.

Program & Portfolio Leadership

  • End-to-End Execution: Drive the planning and execution of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives across various departments.

  • Metrics & KPIs: Define program success metrics and track KPIs to enable data-driven decision-making for leadership.

  • Transparency: Provide clear visibility into risks, trade-offs, and delivery progress for all stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Strategic Partnerships: Partner closely with Product, Security, and Engineering to align execution with business priorities.

  • Communication Hub: Serve as a central point of contact, ensuring stakeholders are consistently informed, aligned, and engaged.

  • Conflict Resolution: Drive critical decisions and resolve conflicts across competing priorities and resource constraints.

Strategic Execution & Improvement

  • Roadmap Management: Translate technology strategy into actionable delivery roadmaps.

  • Process Optimization: Improve and adapt SDLC/PDLC processes, including Agile and DevSecOps practices.

  • Quality Advocacy: Champion release quality, test automation, and performance readiness.

  • Balanced Delivery: Manage tactical commitments while maintaining a focus on long-term strategic objectives.

Influence & Change Management

  • Best Practices: Guide teams across Alkami to embrace TPM best practices and scalable processes.

  • Engineering Maturity: Introduce practices that elevate engineering maturity over time.

  • Change Leadership: Lead change management efforts surrounding new delivery practices and workflows.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications

  • Technical Background: Experience building software and a strong understanding of scalable platforms, cloud (AWS), CI/CD, and SDLC practices.

  • Tooling Proficiency: Expert-level use of Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GitLab, and relevant automation tools.

  • Methodologies: Deep understanding of Agile (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP) and Waterfall methodologies.

  • Quality Focus: Skilled in release management, test automation, performance/quality, and productivity metrics.

  • Communication: Exceptional communicator able to explain complex technical matters clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Collaboration: Highly collaborative, empathetic, and able to thrive in ambiguous environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FinTech or BankTech industry experience.

  • Knowledge of financial/banking platform technologies.

  • Familiarity with scripting or automation to improve program management efficiency.

Recommended Experience & Education

Minimum Experience

  • 8+ years in technical roles within software development organizations.

  • Program Leadership

  • 5+ years as a TPM or Program Manager managing large, complex initiatives.

  • People Management

  • 5+ years leading TPMs or Program Managers, including hiring and mentoring.
