Micron's Core Data Center Business Unit (CDBU) manages Micron's world-class portfolio of Data Center SSDs, the NAND component roadmap, and DRAM solutions for OEM customers.
Sr. Principal Solutions Architect for Optical interconnect is an integral member of the CDBU. In this role you will be responsible for envisioning and enabling the future of our memory and storage technology internally and externally with a specific focus on optical interconnects and their applications. You will develop deep technical engagements with customers and partners to identify key trends, evaluate system-level benefits, drive business and technical strategies for emerging technologies in a fast-paced, agile environment, closely partnering with business, R&D, and technology teams in Micron.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the long-term strategy for optical interconnect across pluggable optics, onboard/near-package optics, and co-packaged optics
  • Define system-level architecture direction and guide tradeoffs in power, bandwidth density, latency, thermal design, reliability, and cost
  • Lead technical engagements with hyperscalers and ecosystem partners, including architecture studies and system-level prototypes
  • Deliver competitive and market insights across lasers, silicon photonics, DSPs, optical switches, packaging, and manufacturing
  • Support corporate development with technical due diligence, integration assessments, and investment recommendations

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 12+ years in optical interconnects, high-speed networking, silicon photonics, or datacenter system architecture
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Expertise in optical interconnect system architecture, high-speed I/O, or AI/datacenter fabrics
  • Proven experience working directly with hyperscale customers and ecosystem partners
  • Strong communication skills for technical and executive-level discussions
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years in hyperscale infrastructure, AI systems, or optical interconnect technologies
  • Hands-on experience with system-level modeling, simulation, or prototype evaluation
  • Experience building business cases or supporting M&A and investment activities
  • MBA or background in investment strategy

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$148,000.00 - $308,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
