About the department
The Self-Serve Team is responsible for Cloudflare's product led growth business that serves ~20% of the internet. We run PLG product management and growth marketing across all product categories, with a particular focus on our Free customers. We work to grow the business by understanding our customers' needs at every stage of their journey from Awareness to Activation to Expansion and Retention.
Who you are
Our Product Analytics team is responsible for generating data-driven insights to help make key decisions to improve our products and help our customers. You are excited to do this at a tremendous scale across our product suite. You have experience delivering marketing campaign data sets, analysis and insights. You are world class at launching well targeted campaigns, reporting on campaign performance and drawing actionable insights to inform campaign iterations and strategic plans. You excel at immersing yourself in a lot of data and synthesizing that data into actionable insights. You love to move uncomfortably fast and thrive in ambiguity.
Responsibilities
  • Build the Self-Serve Funnel: Map and analyze the end-to-end user journey for self-serve customers. Quantify conversion rates at all stages of the funnel.
  • Revenue Modeling: Build financial models to estimate growth for key self-serve plans and products from our marketing acquisition and expansion campaigns. Help us understand which features are the strongest leading indicators of retention.
  • Experimentation & A/B Testing: Partner with cross-functional partners to document and measure experiments that impact our key metrics.
  • Churn & Retention Analysis: Dig deep into churn data to identify "at-risk" behaviors. Answer questions like: "Does a user who enables 2FA and DNSSEC have a higher Lifetime Value (LTV) than one who only uses CDN?"

Aha moment and Habit moment: Understand and define key moments in the customer journey to help us craft marketing campaigns that help more customers get to experience these moments sooner.
  • Dashboarding & Reporting: Build and maintain "source of truth" dashboards in Tableau and Looker that track campaign performance KPIs across all our marketing channels.
  • Attribution: Help refining our multi-touch attribution models to understand how each marketing channel is contributing to growing the self-serve revenue.
  • Understand key company and product team objectives. Use this understanding to prioritize the many programs being run by the teams we support.
  • In some cases you will be responsible for the execution of key programs. You will need to build strong relationships with our product and engineering leaders and drive those programs to completion.

Who you are
  • Minimum of 5+ years of data analytics, marketing analytics, or business intelligence, preferably at a SaaS or PLG company.
  • Technical Stack:
    • SQL: Expert-level proficiency. You can write complex queries (window functions, CTEs, joins) to extract data from large datasets (Google BigQuery experience is a plus).
    • Visualization: Strong experience building dashboards in Tableau, Looker, or similar BI tools. You know how to visualize data so it tells a story, not just shows a number.
    • Python/R: Familiarity with using Python or R for data cleaning or statistical modeling is highly preferred.
    • Adobe Analytics: Strong experience with web analytics and experience using Adobe Analytics
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, write queries, and work with large quantities of data.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and Time Series Analysis: identify the factors most likely contributing to a business outcome, analyze trends and forecast future values
  • Business Acumen: You understand SaaS metrics like CAC, LTV, Net Dollar Retention (NDR), and Churn. You know that data is useless unless it drives a business decision.
  • PLG experience: you understand the basics of PLG and know how to dive into data to understand key customer journey moments like the Aha moment.
  • Experience driving long term cross-functional projects and thriving as the "glue person". This means you are exceptional at understanding complex problems and designing solutions.
  • Just as importantly, you are able to mobilize a cross-functional team to execute the solution.
  • You are highly motivated to make Cloudflare and your team successful.
  • Demonstrative executive presence and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • You can communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., explaining statistical significance to a copywriter).
  • Customer facing experience is a plus!
