Itron is innovating new ways for utilities and cities to manage energy and water. We create a more resourceful world to protect essential resources for today and tomorrow. Join us.

At Itron, we are shaping a more resourceful, sustainable world through intelligent energy and water management. As the Sr. Product Solutions Architect, you will serve as a trusted technical authority on Itron’s Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS)—able to clearly articulate how Itron’s solution fits within a utility’s existing architecture and confidently demonstrate its value in supporting grid modernization.
Sitting within the Product team while operating in close collaboration with customer-facing teams, you will partner with Business Growth Managers, ECEs, and the Customer and Market Experience (CME) team to support presales efforts for both new and existing customers. You will engage authentically with a wide range of audiences—from utility engineers to executive leaders and industry forums—translating complex architectures into clear, customer-centric value narratives.
This role bridges product strategy and market execution, mapping Itron’s cloud-based DERMS and Distributed Intelligence capabilities into utility environments, identifying differentiated value, and providing accountable feedback to inform product direction.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the trusted technical authority on Itron’s cloud-based DERMS and Grid Edge Intelligence capabilities, clearly articulating how the solution fits within utility environments.
  • Develop and maintain scalable reference architectures, integration frameworks, and use case libraries across ADMS, MDM, CRM, and OT/IT systems.
  • Translate Itron’s Distributed Intelligence differentiation into clear, customer-centric value narratives for technical and executive audiences.
  • Partner collaboratively with Business Growth Managers, ECEs, and CME teams to support presales efforts, delivering tailored architectures, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Lead solution design for strategic opportunities, mapping customer challenges to innovative DERMS solutions while reducing perceived risk.
  • Support expansion within existing accounts by aligning DERMS capabilities to grid modernization priorities and identifying new use cases.
  • Contribute to RFP/RFI responses and high-impact engagements requiring deep technical expertise.
  • Represent Itron in industry forums, conferences, and customer workshops, strengthening credibility and thought leadership.
  • Capture field insights and conduct structured gap analyses, translating customer needs and market trends into actionable product feedback.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience & Domain Expertise: 8+ years in solutions architecture, presales engineering, product management, or related roles within enterprise technology; utilities or energy experience strongly preferred.
  • Utility Architecture Knowledge: Working knowledge of ADMS, MDM, SCADA, AMI, CRM platforms, and OT/IT integration.
  • DER & Grid Expertise: Understanding of DER, grid flexibility, load management, and DERMS platforms.
  • Customer Engagement: Proven ability to support presales cycles with a customer-centric, accountable approach.
  • Technical Communication: Ability to simplify complex architectures into clear business value for diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaboration & Agility: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, influence without authority, and adapt in dynamic environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, energy systems, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Itron DERMS, Distributed Intelligence, or similar grid management platforms.
  • Familiarity with DERMS, ADMS, VPPs, and DER technologies (solar, EVs, storage, demand response).
  • Knowledge of utility data flows and cloud or edge-based architectures.
  • Experience in product-to-field overlay roles.
  • Industry engagement through speaking, publishing, or working groups.
  • Experience in regulated or multi-regional utility markets.
  • Passion for advancing sustainable energy solutions.
