Department Overview
Join the Missions & Insights organization and help us build the next generation of public safety technology. We create the platforms that power real-time emergency response, crime analysis, and critical capabilities like drone-as-first-responder and AI-driven situational awareness. Our work has a direct impact on saving lives and ensuring community safety. Our portfolio, which includes CommandCentral Aware and RapidDeploy, is expanding with cutting-edge innovations in autonomous incident detection and AI triage. Our goal is to create a mission-first, cloud-native, and intelligence-driven nerve center for modern public safety.
The Device and Unit Services Team collects and normalizes telemetry data from a wide variety of sources, including many different device types, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), and other Public Safety systems. This information is then intelligently consolidated and supplied to the end user, providing crucial insights for situational awareness. This team is responsible for providing the single source of truth of responder location within our application suite.
Job Description

The Senior Software Engineering Manager will serve as an expert in modern software architecture, specializing in cloud-native microservices, capable of strategically leveraging GenAI to significantly drive team efficiency and output, while simultaneously ensuring stringent high-quality and security standards and effectively navigating complex, cross-product communication and stakeholder alignment challenges. Educates and coaches the team in software craftsmanship principles while maintaining high security, test automation, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional software development expertise with a strong people management background, who is experienced in designing the architecture of scalable, maintainable, and reliable software systems using different design patterns, especially microservices architectural patterns.

  • Ability to negotiate with the product and business teams to reach a common understanding about feature scope, services complexity, and product evolution with excellent tech debt roadmap planning skills.

  • Data-driven and with a strong focus on Agile processes and efficiency improvements, quality, and SRE KPIs, capable of leveraging GenAI adoption and results as a natural component of the software development life cycle.

  • Experience leading highly skilled software engineers in fast-paced, agile development environments.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership levels

  • Proven track record of solving complex business challenges using cutting-edge technology and Generative AI.

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree is highly desired 

  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Microservices, and Cloud.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

  • Strong full-stack knowledge, especially on web application development using Angular and building RESTful APIs and Microservices using Java.

  • Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably Cosmos DB. SQL DB knowledge is a plus.

  • Deep technical expertise in Azure and Kubernetes orchestration, coupled with proven experience in designing and managing scalable CI/CD practices with a strong DevOps mindset.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
