About the Company

Our client is building software that improves the accessibility and quality of healthcare by eliminating operational inefficiencies and enabling clinicians to focus on patient care.

Backed by top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Craft Ventures, and Y Combinator, the company has raised over $50M to modernize healthcare infrastructure and create scalable systems that truly support providers and patients.

The team values ownership, collaboration, speed, and pragmatic problem-solving — while maintaining a strong mission-driven culture.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior / Staff Data Engineer to help design and scale the core data platform powering mission-critical healthcare systems.

This is a highly platform-focused engineering role — ideal for someone who enjoys building infrastructure, developer tooling, governance standards, and scalable data architecture rather than solely focusing on ETL pipelines.

You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, analytics, and platform teams to build reliable and observable systems that support rapid company growth.

This role also requires strong technical leadership and mentorship, helping establish best practices and standards across the organization.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and build scalable, reliable, and observable data infrastructure

  • Own and evolve core platform tooling and architecture strategy

  • Build systems that improve developer experience and data accessibility across teams

  • Collaborate with engineering, product, analytics, and reporting stakeholders

  • Define and implement best practices around governance, tooling, and platform standards

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction across the organization

  • Deliver iterative improvements in ambiguous and fast-moving environments

  • Balance speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability

What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or backend/platform engineering

  • Strong experience building and scaling data platforms and infrastructure

  • Deep expertise with AWS and modern open-source data tooling

  • Experience working with technologies such as:

    • Spark

    • Kafka

    • Iceberg

    • dbt

  • Strong Python and SQL skills

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)

  • Ability to drive technical decisions and collaborate cross-functionally

  • Comfortable owning tooling, standards, and platform strategy for multiple teams

  • Strong communication and mentorship skills

Nice to Have
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech

  • Experience improving developer experience (DevX) for data teams

  • Exposure to governance and data reliability initiatives

  • Previous startup or high-growth company experience

Interview Process
  • G2i Technical Screening

  • Background & Technical Deep Dive

  • System Design Interview

  • Onsite Debugging / Pair Programming Session

  • Culture Fit Interview

  • Product & Customer Conversation

Why Join?
  • Competitive compensation + equity

  • Opportunity to work on meaningful healthcare infrastructure

  • High-impact ownership at a rapidly growing startup

  • Collaborative, mission-driven engineering culture

  • Hybrid flexibility in NYC

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, even if they don’t meet every qualification listed above.
